hi everyone, I've want to teach my chillins sign but don't know how to go about it. I tried when my daughter was born, but i'm not very good at teaching . She is almost 2 now. There is a possiblitie that Brock might be deaf. so i'm thinking of trying it again. Should do one sign at a time, or just sign when ever i talk? or something else? thank ;D -hope

For us we started out with the very basic simple signs, like eat, more, ball, LOL Chris loved balls from it seems the moment he was born As he got older we signed more with him. Chris is 13 now and he still uses some signs. Chris started EI when he was just a month old and actually the speech therapist at the center we went to gave me the first signs to start Chris with. The first one he got right away was "More" CC ~

My granddaughter Amber 7 years old ds and hearing impaired, we started sighning to her from about 3 months old, words like milk, food, more, ball, as she learned them we would add more words, now she knows a lot, and can communicate her needs to us pretty good. She has had a chochlear implant for 2 years, and loves it. We hope that someday she will be able to talk, she can say some words.

Hi. Just a thought, I am teaching my 2.7 year old to sign so he can help me with my 2.6 month old. My girlfriend bought me a book "sign with your baby" It's a real easy book for someone who does not do well in that area, like ME. The author is DR. Joseph Garcia. GOOD LUCK.

I second Valerie's suggestion of using the Signing Time dvds!!! I can't say enough wonderful things about them. They are worth every penny. If you aren't able to buy the dvds, you may be able to check them out at your public library. Signing Time is also on many of the PBS stations.
