;DThe dogs were good for the camera. Better than any of the rest of us. Here's a neat trick.(1) With one hand hold two dog leashes (with dogs attached at other end) and baby jogger. Line up razor scooter so you can stand behind jogger and hold it's handle and the jogger handle.(2) Tell doggies to walk on. (3) Hope dogs do not see squirrel or bunny rabbit. There is no way to steer. In case of emergancy jump off scooter, drop dog leashes and hold that baby. Gwen

I betya JT loves the cuddle part of being held too.
I carried Greg alot. As he got bigger it was for shorter times. Since I already had one child in a wheelchair, he could sometimes ride double with his brother. Sometimes we even used two chairs. Just make him walk sometimes too. Gwen

I have to agree with CC, I think it is more about the low muscle tone and lack of stamina than laziness. Not only do we need a stroller because Sarah isn't able to walk long distances (but is improving slowly but surely) but she has no awareness of danger. She is impulsive and will just go after whatever catches her attention. All of our children are different. If you believe in your gut that your child is lazy, then push them to walk. I simply am not able to carry Sarah anymore. She is 40 lbs and my back feels every ounce.

Well, Russell does ok with walking. I think we've had a few flop and drop moments... but he can do ok with walking, holding our hand. We still use a stroller though. We have increased his walking and hand holding time over the years.. but we still need a stroller.
I think again, something like this depends on the child.. and really why they are doing what they are doing.. what they understand, ect.

Chris, safety is one big reason we are in the boat we are in now. JT has no safety/stranger awareness in the least, mix that in with him being the baby of a busy family, it's always been quicker to put him in the stroller, top it off with him being so darn cuddley that it's a joy that he still wants to be held.
So I realize now that it's not a charateristic of his.....it's a learned behavior. He's been reinforced for being carried and put in the stroller. I'm not at all down playing his stamina and gait. It's not great and I would never expect him to walk through an entire grocery trip with me. It's far more complex than either or.....it's a bunch of situations thrown together.
We are going to work on his stamina, but are also going to start checking on a bigger stroller. The wheel just fell off of our heavy duty all-terrain baby stroller. Guess I better get a move on things either that or make weekly appointments at the chiro!!

Food for thought guys!!! Ok, we do not use a stroller with Collin. But, if we are going to a festival or fair or an amuzement park we will take a wagon for him and Lauren to use if they want. Heck, even my 8 and 10 y.o. have been known to hitch a ride. While I will admit Collin does fatigue quicker than most he is also a manipulator. For example...if we are taking a walk through the park he will usually 3/4 of the way through ask to be picked and whine about it (he really works my DH with this -- I'm the toughy). But if we are in eye sight of the play ground and I point it out and tell him to go play you should see those little legs that where just tired 30 seconds ago fly!!! Ok so who's working who?!?!? I question if he is really tired or just bored and not interested in what we are doing? While in the grocery store, not all the time but usually I do put him and Lauren in a cart just because our store has those race car carts (which I HATE) and the kids love them!!!
I use the cart when I've not been to the grocery store in 2 weeks and have MAJOR food shopping to do!! But, when I just need a few items I make them (him) walk with me an carry the food. This way he builds stamina and muscle strength...a gallon of orange juice is heavy or HEBBY as he says!! Now I'm rambling and forgot my point so I will stop now!! Connie
