hi everyone. rough week here. this past tusday samantha had her tonsils out and tubes put in as well as adenoids taken out. they took all the tonsils and adenoids out and the cut some tissue out of the way and sewed her sides of tissue of her throat (pulled back and and stitched i think. she drank one oz after her recovery and then stopped drinking . she ate cereal though dry and asked for more. she started drinking again on friday. we came home at noon today and she is so tired out. poor little girl. i stayed at the hospital 24 /7. i missed all of this week at work. i hope they take my letter from the hospital that i stayed there the entire time. i left for about 3 hours one day and my mother came over to watch samantha. she is doing so great right now. samantha jo had a av cannel heart defect when she was born and they fixed it at 4 months old. she does have a leaky valve but she really did great on her operation !!!!!!!!! sue

the only thing the surgery was supppose to do was make her sleep apena go away. though her heart rate kept dropping the first night very low and they kept her more days to see if she would drink enough and keep an eye on her heart rate. sue

i forgot about the 7 to 14 days to watch their eating so the scabs do not cause any bleeding. i am sure she will be fine. most of what needs to be done with her medical needs have now been done. i just hope this will help with her constant ear infections and drainage in the ears. in the next 2 months i am going to schedule her dental check up ,eye care appointment . she is though feeling so much better. she loved on all the nurses. well got to run. sue

Sue, Hi it's me again, I guess I am a nervous wreck after reading about Samantha Jo's heart rate dropping being they have very similar heart issues, and Adam's surgery is scheduled for July 11, was wondering if I could get more info from you. Did her heart rate drop during surgery or afterwards? Did they say this was common? Did they feel it was because of her leaking valve? Adam has a moderate mitral valve leak. I'm sure I sound like a crazy woman but I am serisouly now scared out of my mind after reading what happend to your little one. Hope Samantha Jo is feeling better. How is her recovery going? Have any advice Take care, Monica

It sonds like Samantha jo is on her way to recovery! It is so hard to watch your babies go through surgery. Kels had a T&A when she was littler...she was an entirely different child afterwards. So much more energy! (this was a good thing ? : Hugs to you and hang in there! Melissa
