Not sure if this has been posted yet, but I loved it! Thought I'd share...but its kinda long.
Beatitudes For friends of those with special needs.
1. Blessed are you who take time to listen to difficult speech, for you can help us know that if we persevere, we can be understood.
2. Blessed are you who walk with us in public places, and ignore the stares of strangers, for in your companionship we find havens of relaxation.
3. Blessed are you who never bid us to "hurry up" and more blessed are you who do not snatch a task from our hands to do it for us, for often we need time rather than help.
4. Blessed are you who stand beside us as we enter new and untried ventures, for our failures will be outweighed by the times when we surprise ourselves and you.
5. Blessed are you who ask for our help, for our greatest need is to be needed.
6. Blessed are you who help us with the graciousness of Christ who did not bruise the reed and quench the flax, for often we need the help we can not ask for.
7. Blessed are you, when by all these, you assure us that the thing that makes us individuals is not in our peculiar muscles, nor in our wounded nervous systems, nor in our difficulties in learning, but in the God-given self which no infirmity can confine.
AMEN!

I love that! I printed it out a month or so ago on another web site and have it posted on my fridge. I considered mailing it to the family members who don't comply! Although I just realized mine is slightly different. Here's what mine says: Blessed are you...who take time to listen to difficult speech, for you help me to know that if I persevere I can be understood. Blessed are you...who never bid me to "hurry up" or take my tasks and do them for me, for often I need time rather than help. Blessed are you...who stand beside me as I enter new and untried ventures, for my failures will be outweighed by the times I surprise myself and you. Blessed are you...who ask for my help, for my greatest need is to be needed. Blessed are you...who understand that, sometimes, it is difficult for me to put my thoughts into words. Blessed are you...who with a smile encourage me to try once more. Blessed are you...who never remind me that today I asked the same question twice. Blessed are you...who respect me and love me *JUST AS I AM* and not as you wish I were.
