There are happy babies.....Then there's JAMIE!! Shelby and her Magga (their word for Grandma. Don't ask where it came from) relaxing on the grass at the World Pork Expo Alicen proving to be a true Weyant and tearing up a plate of ribs. Notice the plate of bare bones beside her! And finally, by the end of the day, Jamie was just all porked out. The hot dog bun was a present fom Shelby. At least she shares.

You know, it just occured to me to explain what the World Pork Expo (where most of the pics were taken) actually is. When I think about how the name sounds, I sound like a serious hillbilly! The Pork Expo is mainly a barbecue contest. You pay to get in, then you walk around all day getting samples from the people in the contest who are grilling pork ribs, loin, all kinds of fun stuff. Then there's the Big Grill which is this giant barbecue about the width and length of a semi trailer. Basically, you just walk around and pork out, no pun intended. Then you can go look at all the products for hog-raising, if you're into that sort of thing. Then you finish it up with the pig races, where baby pigs race like mad to get to an Oreo. By the end of the day, you're stuffed, sunburned, tired as death, and smell like a hog. But the kids are worn out, you don't have to cook dinner, and your husband leaves you alone. At least until you shower. Shannon

Shannon,
What beautiful pics.. I loved the last one where Jamie looks like he is falling through the stroller.
I am so glad you clarified what the World Pork Expo was. It was a tough visual for me. LOL. You can always tell someone from a midwestern town... Beef, pork or dairy... here it is mushrooms. We celebrate a gigantic mushroom on August... "Humungous Fungus Fest" Yep it is for real!!
Topped off (no pun intended) with a 12 foot x 12 foot mushroom pizza!!! Just another town drunk!
LOL. I got way off track there... but your family is beautiful!!
Hugs,
Cathy

Thanks, Cathy! By the way, do you have Mushroom Queen? Because, by golly, Iowa has a Pork Queen AND a Pork Princess. How would you like to THAT title-holder? Between our Pork Princess and your Fungus Queen....where do people come up with this???

Shannon, Jamie is so so cute!! So are his big sisters!! I too am glad that you explained the Pork Expo~ When we were chatting the other day I thought it was a resteraunt!! LOL We don't have anything like that here really except in October in Hohenwald they have and Oktober fest! They have all kinds of stuff! But what has people coming from different states is the 13 mile yard sale!!! No kidding 13 miles (gets bigger every year) of nothing but stuff to buy. It isn't like a flea market you would just have to see it. They have this huge craft fair at the Natchez Trace (Yeap the route Mary Ingalls took in Follow the River) and all the houses on the road to the Trace started having yard sales on the same day hoping that the people on their way to the craft fair would stop. Now it is a Total zoo!! But in 14 years that I have been in Tennessee. I have NEVER missed it. I LOVE other peoples junk!! I love the picture of ALicen with that plate of ribs!! TOO cute. SHelby and Jamie favor each other so much! You make beautiful children!! Radonna

Radonna, A 13 mile yard sale would make me soooo happy! We have a community garage sale in Urbandale (another suburb of Des Moines) That people from other towns actually bring busses to! These people set up grills and pop stands, set out picnic tables and lawn chairs, and turn on music. It's a lot of fun. It rained like crazy this year but there were just as many people. The Urbandale sale is where i got most of my baby stuff when I was pg with Shelby, too. Isn't it fun?

Um.....I think the Pittsburgh equivilent would be our "Rib & Wing Cookoff" ?Or maybe the Rolling Rock Towne Fair.... Great pics! My 6year old would probably think Alicen is his kind of gal~ we take him to stock car races & he wants to know where the Rib & Wing stand is ! ~ And Cathy...Should we even ask about the fungus princess....Do ya keep her in the dark & feed her_____ well, I'm sure you've heard that joke before

Suzi, Whatever you do, do not tell my husband that you have a rib & wing cookoff!! He'll have us transferred to PA in 3 minutes! And then I'll never see him or Alicen again! What's really sad is that I'll be moving to TN to go to Radonna's 13 mile garage sale so we won't even be around each other! We'd better keep this under our hats...lol
