You guys will never believe this. My EI coordinator came this morning. She came with the director for the EI program in my area. Since Andrew will be 3 soon she wanted to go over some things and give me some info. She was supposed to stay about 20 minutes. They eneded up staying a little over an hour! WELL......
Some of you might have read my post about a woman we met at Home Depot last weekend. In our conversation she said she had a friend whose daughter was in her 30's (DS) and was married. I was very inspired by this woman.
OK...you ready......the director of our EI program who came to my house today IS THE WOMAN WHOSE DAUGHTER IS MARRIED!! What a small world!! I told her this is way too coincidental. Now mind you, that Home Depot is over 1/2 an hour from us and I have no clue why we chose to go there that day because there is another Home Depot closer to us. We hardly ever go shopping in this direction.
Her daughter has been married since 1999. She met her husband at church, and he is "typical". Not disabled in any way. They own a condo and are doing very well for themselves. She is going to come back and visit us again and promised she would bring pictures next time. I can't wait!!! ;D
I just had to share this experience with all of you. I believe that everything happens for a reason. I don't know why I have met this woman but it seems like we were "meant" to meet each other. I can't wait to see where all this takes us.

I think it's cool too! Now what are the chances I would ever run into this woman? When Jeff got home from work yesterday, he siad "Trisha....this is just too weird. Let me know when she is coming back and I'll take the day off of work". WHAT? ? Take the day off of work? You guys have no idea what it takes to get my DH to take a day off. LOL! Hey...you think today is too soon to call her?? LOL...how 'bout now? now??.... -Trisha

Wow, very cool! That is waayyyy too coincidental. There must be a reason that you two have now crossed paths twice in such a short amount of time . . .

That is a small world.....I can just see your face when you realized !! Can I ask you a question about the daughter who is married ? I hope I don't offend anyone by this question....but did you say she married a man with NO disabilites.....I find that odd....and please feel free to yell if you are offended.....but does anyone else see that unusual ?

Allisa - I personally think it's unusual only because I think it simply doesn't happen very often - least we don't hear of it happening very often!

That's funny you say that Allisa.....I thought the same thing! She must have been able to tell what I was thinking by my face or she has been asked that before. She quickly told me her daughter was high functioning, and her husband was a very nice "church going man". She said they all felt "blessed" to have this man in their lives.
I agree Jessie, we probably don't hear of this happening too often. Not just that they are married but I think dating in general. But after I thought about it, who could ask for a better person to share your life with. Personally ( and please don't slam me for this) I think people with DS have different hearts then most people, They seem more "attuned" to other people's feelings. They also seem to have a certain love of life, adventure and fun in general. Who could ask for more???

Trisha, thanks for posting more about the couple. I was one of the people who thought it was unusual as well. Sounds like a wonderful situation!
