Were AWESOME today.
Thanks to all of you for some suggestions. We got there about 15 minutes early so we could talk about it, we sat by the instructor...the MALE instructor. JT was antsy and clingy but not crying.
The instructor had talked to some people and was trying to make me feel better that it just may take JT longer to adjust to the class setting.....I was trying to help the instructor to not take it personally....it was a group therapy moment...LOL.
I sat JT down next to the handrail and stairs....THE KEY....HE walked down the steps to the instructor when it was his turn. I think it was totally freaking JT out to have the instructor grabbing him from the edge.
Before lessons began the other instructor came into the pool....another MALE. I was going to ask if JT could work with the Female. In my head I thought two men, get ready for JT to through a fit. Nope.
I did sit right behind JT again, he tried some of his avoidance techniques at first, signing for his shoes, signing all done, etc.
By the end he jumped off the deep end of the pool standing up into his instructors arms.......WHOOOHOOOO!
JT left the pool in his usually style waving parade style and saying goodbye to all. He had a ton of compliments and praise the whole time....which is his number one motivator.
So I don't feel like the evil mother pushing her child into an activity way over his head this week. I've learned that JT is a huge routine type of guy and the first few times of something new......HOLD ON FOR THE RIDE! Now my gut is telling me that in a couple of weeks I'll be sitting behind JT not to keep him from leaving the pool but to keep him OUT of the pool when it's not his turn. He had that glint in his eyes a couple of times today.

Who found a grey hair on her way home from lessons tonight....AUGH!
