Our Down Syndrome Group, went to our local professional AAA baseball game today to promote our upcoming Buddy Walk. JT was asked to throw out an honorary first pitch. (We didn't know before hand, we just went to watch the game and support the group) JT is a sports NUT. He can spend 10 minutes studying one picture in sports illustrated. He and his Dad were up on the pitchers mound, he pushed his Dad away. Lifted his foot up like the big guys do and turned his body 180 degree and gave the ball a big old throw the wrong direction.
Oh well, his form was incredible! We'll just have to work on aim.
I had tears of pride in my eyes, and cursing at the digital camera for daring to run out of batteries all at the same time.
These Triple A ball games are a riot. A lot of family activities and music. I thought I'd pass a long a couple of ideas for promoting your Buddy Walks. Our group donated a few of the shirts for the upcoming walk. They put walk registration forms in the shirts and then balled them up so they could be thrown out between innings. The ball park has a bunch of camera guys running around taking pictures of the best smile, best kiss, etc. One of the camera guys was wearing the shirt. Great walking advertisement for the event!
