John has started first grade, and it is going great. He has had very little trouble adjusting as he is in the same school as last year, same gym, art, and music teachers, same aide, and same resource room teacher. The only new thing is his actual classroom teacher. He loves having a locker, seriously loves it, and is doing great riding the bus with out big brother (who went off to middle school this year.) John will spend all day in first grade for the time being, until the areas he needs the extra help become obvious. He did very well with retention this summer so I feel pretty good about things. The thing John most wants is a real friend - He is 7 and has suddenly realized how much he wants someone to come over and play play station with him, someone that is just his friend. Last year he never really cared, but all summer he talked about this. We live out in the country, with only a few neighbors so school is really the place for him to find this friend. His team at school is aware of this, so lets hope it works out!
I am very proud of him, he is a really good kid.
