On another thread, it came up that another son called his Mom "Bob-Bob", more than likely meaning sponge Bob.
JT calles me "Bob". He'll pronounce Mom when Cory asks him to, but on his own I'm very clearly "Bob". I keep forgetting to ask the ST if "b's" and "m's" are commonly interchanged. Seems like they are both produced with the lips.
Just curious how many other Mom's called Bob are out there?

Dawn, If I remember correctly, Emily's ST had to work a lot longer on "M" than she ever did with "B". Emily's first name for me was "MAW".........maybe she could manage that starting "M" sound, but couldn't get it on the end of "MOM". That has been true for so many words; they start out correctly, but the ending sound is left off altogether.
I can tell you that Allison's mommy BARB is lovingly called BOB by Emily. After a get together, Emily asked me if we were going to get to see "BOB" the next weekend. I could NOT figure out who she meant at all. Finally, she said (sort of annoyed with me) "MOM! You know.....BOB! Allison, Caitlin, Sarah and BOB!"

OMG Dawn!!! I thought I was the only 'BOB' LOL!!! We worked all summer long to get Jennifer to say MOM because she can say "MOMMY". Now of course BOB has become BAW..don't know how that happened.

My first word was Korvettes! Anyone remember that store? Gosh, I guess I'm getting old. When Emily REALLY needs me and is upset she manages to say MaMaMa. Most of the time she'll say it as NahNahNah...or maybe she's always tell me no, when she's not saying WANT!

Yup, I've been called "Bob" by many a child ( and few coworkers but that's a story for another day, LOL ).
All three of my girls called me "Bob" for a time. Until Alison came along I just figured Caitlin and Sarah were trying to say "Barb". Alison's ST got so excited the first time Alison said "Bob" and pointed at me..... and then couldn't understand why I was so underwhelmed..... I just wanted to hear "Mom". She said that lots of kids with and without DS will initially make a "B" sound instead of the "M". Then I did get excited!!! LOL
It didn't take long before "Bob" became the "Mom" I so wanted to hear!!! The same "Mom" that I am getting more than a little tired of hearing lately too! Alison seems to have 4 favorite words right now..... Mom...... Mommy........ Mommum...... and MaMa!!!!!

How funny! Joshua calls me Mama, but it often comes out Baba or Papa, and then he self-corrects. I thought it was just because he's little. He uses it in combination with the sign for Mother.

This is very interesting. When I first read this I thought I'd hear all sorts of names that Mom's are called. I'm surprised to see there are really so many "Bob" moms out there. Is that common because of speech issues with Ds?
Alethea has just started calling me "ma-ma", but it always when she wants something or is hurt. Either way, I love to hear her say it.

BTW, too funny Bob.
