What a great page! My name is Samantha, and my husband Kevin and I are the proud parents of Hannah. She is 13 months old and our sweet little angel. She was born 11 weeks early and spent 2 months in the NICU. She had surgery to repair an AV Canal Defect, a mitral valve defect when she was4 months old. She was given a 25% chance of surviving the surgery. We had no idea that she had Ds until 2 weeks after she was born. At first I was crushed I had never known anyone with a disability, and I thought the worst was in store for her. CALL ME STUPID! 2 days later I was nose in books learning that my sweet little girl was going to have every opportunity possible. I truly believe God gave her to us to m ake us both more understanding, patient, and compassionate people. I posted her picture in the calendar for Feb.she is either 10 or 11. She is wearing a light blue outfit and sitting in a blue and white checkered chair. Samantha

Claire, I just submitted her pic last night, and it said that it would have to be looked at by a person first. So maybe it take a while. You have a very nice looking family. Samantha

Hello Samantha and Hannah! Welcome to UnoMas!
I'm Donnita, my daughter Cassandra is 21 months old. She had her AVCanal defect repaired when she was six months old and is doing great now. I noticed you live in WI, can you meet some of us in Chicago next June? You have some time to think about it and make the plans. There is a thread in the bulletin board about it. I live in central IN.

Hi Samantha, Just wanted to say "Welcome to the boards" and nice to meet you, Hannah and Kevin. It sounds like your little cutey had a rough go at first and is doing great. Yeah!!! Wow she had her one year birthday recently. Did the year go fast? I am going to check out your darling girl after posting. I have seen your name on another site that I check out but haven't posted on yet. I am mom to Danielle. She just turned 3 months old and is so dang adorable. I just hold her all day long. We did not know she had DS but knew there was a 30% chance due to her stomach and intestine not being connected. It was repaired after birth and she was in the NICU for a month. Other than a 6 day stay in the hospital for a severe reaction to Lipil she is doing great. I felt like I was in tunnel at first after her diagnosis but that has lifted tremendously and now I just enjoy her a lot and am so very proud of her. You sound like such a wonderful, proud caring mother too. Look forward to hearing more about Hannah. Hugs, kim and dani

Donnita,
I saw that earlier today and was going to mention it to DH. Especially if the track they are talking about is a Speedway. he may be alll over that!. We live in Green Bay so Chicago is only a 3-4 hour drive. So i am thinking about it.
