I had full intentions to order Love and Learning when JT turned 3, then, well, life took over and now he's 4 1/2. From what I can tell from the website, it's still appropriate for him (anyone with less than 100 words)
I was just going to go put my credit card in and give it a whirl and try video one, but they don't take credit cards, you have to contact them for paypal info.
I know Love and Learning has come up a lot. (I did a uno search, but looks like any thread with the word love or the word learning came up, we use those two words A LOT!) I am looking for anyones' two cents before I take the plunge. Those of you who have L&L, should I start with video one with a 4 year old? He can sing the melody of the ABC's, he hasn't picked out one letter of the alphabet yet.
I'm not looking for a guarentee or anything, just hope that I"m not washing $63 down the sink! I'll pay $63. for hope!

I really liked it... actually Reece excelled ALOT because of L&L!!! I didn't get the results with Russell I wanted but that was before we knew he was Autistic.. and being legally blind at the time didn't help either But I truly love L&L!!! Yes, start with number 1 and progress.. or get 1&2. We have 1, 2, and 3. and years later.. we are still working on 1 LOL.. when we do. It's great to get the sight reading going too!!! Enjoy and we want a full report Chester. I want you to do it daily for 2 weeks with JT and take data and report back!!! heehee A.

Chester; Did you check with your local early intervention organization? Ours is called "HUGS" (help us grow stronger). They had a lending library and had the Love and Learning tapes, so I borrowed them to see if Eric would respond to them. (He loved them). That way you can see if Jake likes them without buying them first. Just a thought.

Dawn, Your post jumped out at me!!! In fact, my very first Uno Mas post years ago was in response to a question about Love and Learning. We have nothing but GREAT things to say about it!!! We bought the first kit when Emily was about to turn 3, I think. She absolutely LOVED sitting on my lap and reading those simple black letters and words! It's almost unbelievable, really. But, she picked it up so easily and before we knew it, she was reading. I was skeptical at first and thought maybe she was just memorizing the words in the correct order....or maybe she could see behind the page to the picture of that word. So, we put a 3X5 card behind each page to make sure she wasn't just seeing the picture. And we read the books in random order. And last..............I started writing different words on paper for her in my own handwriting. And no matter how we did it, she simply knew those words!!! I will never forget her sitting in a high chair (age 3?) at a restaurant and writing the word "UP" on the kids menu and watching Emily raise her hands in the air and say "UP"!!!!
It is a very simple program. There are the little books to read to the child. You really can not just let them sit and look at them alone, because the books are made of regular paper.......not sturdy! There are the audio tapes that we played in the car (sure....boring for us, but Em was soaking it up), and videos or DVD's with those same black/white words and pictures and video footage of the producer's daughter (who has Ds and is now 19???) and her sister. Emily loved watching the girls.
For us, we wasted $63 many different ways..............going out to eat, buying video games that my boys played with a few times and wanted to sell at a garage sale for $5, etc. The Love and Learning sets were not a waste of money at all.
Most importantly, I believe that the very fact that Emily learned to be successful at reading in such an easy manner is what has made her LOVE to read for fun now. Every teacher she has ever had has commented on what a good reader she is. She even reads the BIBLE......and man, some of those words are tough!!!
If you have any other questions, let me know. We bought our sets before PayPal, but we always mailed them a check!

Hey Dawn,
Do you have a local Ds support group that has a lending library? We have this set in ours and loan it out to parents.

Paypal fraud is what worries me about this. I don't know about Love and Learning, but fraud was committed using my husbands paypal information after he had closed his paypal account. Trying to sort this out has been agonizing and is having far reaching effects.

We've met the people who sell Love and Learning several times. They are a wonderful family. I say, call them and ask about sending either a check or a money order for set 1. I didn't know about Pay Pal and fraud.........scary. My dh uses them a lot for Ebay purchases.
