I was helping out at our Buddy Walk yesterday. We managed to fit it in between rain bursts. phew. But it was windy. Someone asked me to watch their station while they ran an errand. I was checking out her books....and there was Emily painting on the front cover. What an awesome picture! Paged through the book, looks like a good one. It was a great day, except I forgot my camera. I was running the "wall of fame", (taking pictures of people with DS and their buddies, or costumed guys walking around, etc). I'll post the one picture in JT's photo album that was on the wall.

I am disappointed that Emily did not go to Georgetown outside of Austin and participate in their Buddy Walk. Katie said it didn't fit in with their plans and she and Em are going to do the Susan B. Komen Walk for the Cure in Oct.
I will miss the Buddy Walk here in Amarillo next week when I fly first to DC to meet Marnie and then drive down to NC to visit David and Jessica and the three little ones.
I still feel like Emily NEEDS some friends with disabilities in her life...but apparently she doesn't seem to feel that way. She likes the dances she goes to and the occasional games nite at a local rec center...but otherwise leads the same life Katie does. She and her personal assistant have grown very close and its more like two friends going places than Emily and a caretaker.
I just thought that at a Buddy Walk both she AND Katie would meet some people they might have things in common with....
Be sure and post pics if you get them from others...

Jackie,
I know what you mean. It would be nice to have some women and men in her life who have Down syndrome.
When I was her age we had already moved back up here. I had already met Steve and this other guy I had gone to school with, Doug. I also met those whom they assoicated with in their crowd. Before that though, I just wanted to be friends with those who didn't any disabilities. I never cared to have a whole lot of friends but a few. It sounds like she is having fun with her P.A. You never know, she may decided to go that way later.
I hope to find that book at Barnes & Noble. I hope I will have enough money to buy it. I really want it. By the way, Emily looks beautiful.
