Sorry this may be long
Hi.. Update on John.
He has been throwing up and vomiting for two days, so I took him to the ER this am. After 10 hours in excruciating pain (another story for another time) they decided that he has a large hematoma in his stomache (about 15 cm or 6 inches around). They were going to ship him to Marquette where there is a hematology department that could help him. But his Dr in INdy decided he needed him back there.
When I left the hospital tonight at 6:00 they moved him into ICU and loaded him with morphine and were going to ship him to Indy on Saturday, after the weather cleared. When I got home at 9:00, the hospital called and they have decided to fly him out tonight and that a doctor in ER has his own plane and was going to fly him there personally. Please keep prayers flowing. I cannot go with him as there is noone to take care of the girls tomorrow after school. John does not want me to go (actually he doesn't want to go either but he has no choice, I refuse to have the best surgeon in the world remove his extremely rare Insulinoma (4 out 5 million people get it) to have an inexperienced doctor care for him now).
He has lost 30 pounds since his surgery (which is not a bad thing altogether, but to me its pretty scary).
He was so sad today, he was in so much pain and they kept giving him small doses of demerol every 15 minutes, and anyone who knows hopitals knows, it takes a t least 30 to get a person to respond to the pain med request. He was in awful pain. Also, emotionally he is taking this all hard. We prayed together and he was able to relax. It is so hard, because there is no way I can be with him and noone can really travel to be with him either. Pray for him. Pray for the girls. Pray for me. THank you all.
Love,
Cathy
OOPS PHONE CALL JUST RECEIVED,... from the doctor that is flying him... How awesome is that. Dr. Whitehead called to tell me he was taking him down and they should be there in about 2.5 hours from when they take off. He is taking a nurse with him and my boss as a co-pilot (maybe) How Overwhelming how blessed we are! Praise GOD!! And thank you all for continuing your prayers.
