Hi All... Okay I read a while back about some posts regarding how when some kids are sick they seem to function a little better. Ryan had the flu over the last few days and I did notice some differences as well. It got me thinking... what is it about being sick that creates such a change? Is it the immune system, the body's reaction to the virus, or is it t-cells or some other factor that "awakens" or "stimulates" the brain in such a way. Ryan's behavior and understanding were at an all-time high, but so was his amount of vomiting... seriously the kid has never been so sick before. Anybody a scientist??? Jodi

I'm going to a seminar in Feb. regarding medicating children with Deveolpmnetal Disabilites.....the info was sent to me from our local CHidlrens Hopsital..... I have not really wanted to take a step like this...but after some wonderful moms here shared their stories....I felt like I should at least look into what the "experts" have to say. Anyways....when I sent in my RSVP card they had space for any questions you would like to see covered and I mentioned the fact that Erin seems more alert and focused when ill and that seems to be the opposite of what you would expect to see....has anyone looked into that reason ?

Well, when we see the doc on the 19th, hopefully we too will ask the same question I just equated it to the fact that Russell was too tired to stim LOL.. therefore the focusing came through clearer? Who knows though! Jodi, sorry Ryan was sick though I hope you are all well now!!! A.
