I have to agree with the article. Clarice's quick answer to most questions is "No", and then there might be a delay while she processes the question and forms an answer. I think it is her way of giving herself time to think about the question and how to communicate an answer. The "No" is often taken as subbornness by others, but I usually tell them to wait for an answer to questions that they ask.

If Abby is stubborn, then it's her greatest quality! That little sweet baby was given very little chance of survival, and she just flat refused to give up. For that, I am eternally grateful.
Abby had fantastic doctors who used innovative and to some extent, experimental medical procedures, but the end result is we have a beautiful little baby who brings everyone so much joy.
Golly, Abby, if you are stubborn, keep it up, kiddo. You are my joy!

I agree with the article , but I don't think it's the whole picture. I think we see stubborn for all the reasons in the article. We also see it 'cause she's stubborn. She digs in. I know the reasons, it's the only way around the stubborn. To be honest I don't even see those as stubborn, because I do know she's stuck, confused afraid - that's not stubborn. " having or showing dogged determination not to change one's attitude or position on something, esp. in spite of good arguments or reasons to do " - that's stubborn, and she does that too. " Please stop trying to shove that giant pop bottle in your backpack ! You'll break the zipper AND it's a bottle from outer space and if it breaks we'll all DIE please stop !!!!" POP. ( end of life on Earth ) At times, no argument sways her. Nothing. Thats when it's time to leave the room. -

Golly, Abby, if you are stubborn, keep it up, kiddo. You are my joy! Char Sometimes I have to wonder just what stubborn is. Personally I don't think Trisha gets her stubbornness from DS, she gets it honestly from me! :-) But seriously, if she wasn't stubborn then would she continue to survive in this strange world? Would she just give up? While stubbornness is a pain when you are trying to get her to turn her music down after asking what seems like thousand times it's also a blessing when she keeps plugging away at something she has trouble doing until she gets it. Maybe we should stop saying they are stubborn and say they are very persistent! lol
