Today I was making signing flashcards for animals and one of the cards was dinosaur well Trisha looked up and said Sarah which is her toy dinosaur from Land Before Time movie. I was so happy to see her connect the picture of a dinosaur to her toy. It may not sound like a lot but for us that is a big step. She loves the flashcards I made one set just has pictures of animals with no names and the other set has the signs for the animasl again with no name. I wanted to make sure she knew the signs so I left the names off on purpose. I just finished the body parts flashcards for signing and I'm working on food flashcards. Right now she is just matching the correct sign to the correct picture and signing and saying the words but later we will use them to play a card game similar to go fish and as a concentration game. Also as she was matching them I had a chance to just listen to her verbalizations and watch her signing so that I could talk with her OT and ST about problems she has. For instance any word the ends with ey comes out as a "s" sound and she has a hard time crossing her wrists to make signs like spider or shrimp. I used up a whole box of laminating sheets on these cards today. Boy am I tired! ;D

WTG! I think this is not a big step but a very huge one. Adam is 9 and is just starting to communicate. Everytime we hear a new word, I write it in a book to make sure I tell his speech therapist. We celebrate every new step Adam does as every step is a step forward and he ahs worked hard to get there. It is also nice to hear you are so dedicated, hugs and cheers.

My parents never gave up on me, never. They did what you are doing Trisha's Mom. My Mom did most of it because my father worked during the day but when he wasn't working he did that some I am sure on the weekends. I wouldn't be where I am at mentally if it were not for my parents. Keep up the good work! You are doing great! ;D

I really appreciate your input and look forward to learning more so I may help Trisha. :-)
