No, unfortunately it isn't crawling normally, but we are sooooo close I can taste it and smell it and almost feel it.
Meanwhile, while Em's developmental therapist (who I absolutely adore) was over, Emily climbed onto the couch. We pulled cushions off to give her better leverage and to push toys out of her reach. I couldn't believe my eyes, but there she was lifting feet up and next I saw her pull her left leg up and climb right up. SHE DID IT 4 TIMES IN A ROW! She is really starting to show me signs of being capable. Of being human! Of being something other than gorgeous!
This stuff has been long in the waiting, so I have every right to brag. I hope no one ever has so long to see gross motor skills develop. To those who are waiting as we have been...keep your faith and hope alive. Eventually these little buggers get there!!!
Way to go my little wonder bug. However Mommy's still waiting for more! ;D

WTG Em. I don't know how old EM is but I know the waiting game. Adam did not crawl until he was 2 and 1/2, he would just roll all over and fast too. He could turn corners faster the his siter could run them. :oThen he started to crawl at around 3 and walking with a walker at 5. Now, no walker and we can't keep up with him. ;D ;D Congratulation on the new ccomplishments and don't worry there will be many more. Thanks for sharing.

Oh but I do understand, and it's a kodak moment when they do something they have struggled so hard to accomplish. I remember Trisha struggling so hard just to get in a crawling position it was so hard for her and in this case therapy didn't help and actually hindered her. Every time she would get in a crawling position they kept "fixing" her legs to the point she stopped even trying. I told them to leave her alone and after that she started trying again. The funny thing is once she was able to crawl it was only a short time later she was trying to walk. I have pictures of us making shadows on the floor as she seem fascinated with those and would try to walk to the shadows. The first time she pulled herself up on the couch you would have thought we'd won the lottery! lol So, yes you have a great reason to brag and to celebrate. Why to go Em!!!!

Christine,
Your little girl will be all over the house and into everything before you know it. I promise!!! Little Miss Em has had to overcome so much in her short life that she missed an entire year of gross motor development. I always took Sarah's heart issues into consideration when I saw other kids with Ds do things before she did. Sarah basically lost the first eight months of her life due to heart failure, surgery and then waiting for her heart to heal. Once the medical issues were out of the way, she took off.
Be proud of your little bug! You'll find her standing in the middle of the kitchen table in no time!
Chris
