OH MY!
The weather was awful in Indianapolis last night, but the Signing Time Live concert was incredible!!
To JT the concert last night was equilavent to me seeing Bon Jovi outdoors in Chicago last July....dreamy. His mouth dropped open, he said "wow" more than once, he stood in the aisle and danced, he had a ball. Rachel and Hopkins did a meet and greet afterwards, so we had our picture taken with her and Hopkins.
I knew that Leah is Rachel's daughter, and they found out when Leah was young that she was deaf. I knew that Alex is Rachel's nephew. I didn't know about Rachel's younger daughter Lucy who has CP and Spina Bifada. Lucy is in some of the videos, in the butterfly song, she is the young girl in a wheel chair with butterfly wings on.
The show was awesome, she had kids up on stage to help her constantly. She talked about her own experiences, she cried and could hardly sing when she was telling us the meaning behind, "show me a sign" and "shine". Of course, the Moms, Dads and Grandparents in the audience didn't have a dry eye either. I've gotten chocked up before listening to "show me a sign" "tell me that you love me, tell me that you're thinking of me, show me a sign".
It was a hit. They had over 1000 people RSVP, but not everyone made it due to the weather. It was sponsored by the Indiana Down Syndrome Society. Rachel had some "gigs" earlier in the day with some other agencies. Pretty awesome idea for a Down Syndrome organization. They didn't charge any admission, but had a free will offering, and the organization got a percentage of all merchandise sales.
I know others from Uno were going to be there. It felt so far away when we RSVP'd, all of a sudden we were mapquesting and checking weather reports. Anyone else make it?
I'll post a video of JT later.
