Well, seems that the littlest Emily is on a roll. Yesterday was a crazy, hectic day for my friend and I. I did a bunch of stuff and met up with Em's developmental therapist at my house. After about 15 minutes my friend dropped off her daughter for me to watch. She never took her coat off b/c she had to fly. She got down on the floor, called Emily, got her attention and said "bye-bye" while waving her hand at her. Right on cue Emily looked her straight in the eye and said "bye-bye"!!!!! So, I get all welled up and so does my friend - and her therapist flips out! Later she said "mo" for more and "no" to something her therapist was trying to do. That evening my husband took the kids to Friendly's for dinner (I was at a gift auction-yey!!!) When they were done Al said to Emily "let's go" while putting her coat on and she said "bye-bye" again!!! Looks like this child may speak afterall. Jackie may be right...soon I just might be on the self-talking posts, LOL!!!
It will be 14 months since her first clean EEG tomorrow. These recent advances give me such hope that my daughter has a chance - I've been so scared to consider what IS might have done to her. The biggest change is her own motivation to do things...something that quite frankly, hasn't been there.
So thanks for my moment. It always feels so good to put it in print!!! LOL!

I am sitting her with tears welling up in my eyes...I can feel your excitement and pride...oh..this is just wonderful!!!
I think when our kids start communicating it is the biggest leap they make developmentally...and apparently not just random words either...very approriate comments...way to go EMILY

Ohhh........watch out!!! Bye bye and mo are Sarah's most used words. She tells people bye bye when she is sick of them and wants them to leave and says "MO!!!" to everything. I don't know why most people think it is cute because I know she is being rotten. I am happy that she is using words to communicate even if she is rotten. ;D Little Emily is on her way to leaving babyhood behind and becoming a little girl. Brag away, it makes my day! Chris
