First of all, I want to thank everyone for the well-wishes! With the last couple of months this birthday was very important to me, and I wanted to make it a good one for her. I think I succeeded!
What a day!!!! Angela and I waited at the bus stop while she told me all about what kind of cupcakes I was supposed to pick up for her school birthday. Two classes plus all the staff that work DIRECTLY with her (she rotates support staff CONSTANTLY cuz she actually does BETTER with the inconsistancy. LOL) equals 4 dozen mini cupcakes. Here is the smile she woke up with yesterday morning!
They did the treats right away at school (lucky kids, and lucky teachers that got to start the day off with cupcakes. LOL) then it was a field trip for the special ed. class. A picnic in the park and the new Shreck movie. When I picked her up at 3:00 she was exhausted!
But there wasn't time for tired kids. Dean's parents were waiting for us at home with her birthday gift! A new camping chair and a sleeping bag. About 15 minutes later she fell asleep in the middle of the living room floor on the sleeping bag! LOL
"Just reyaxing in my chair."
A new sleeping bag? I'm gonna go try it out!
I love you grandpa!
But like I said, there wasn't much time for sleeping. We left her alone for about an hour and then it was time to get dressed up for her date with Dean. They went out to eat at Applebees. See? She can barely keep her eyes open. LOL
As soon as she left I got set up for the party. We were supposed to be outside for a Hawaiian thing, but it rained shortly before so I had to punt. We stayed inside where I was unsuccessful in thinking up any games. Instead I put on some cool Reggae music!
The friends all arrived right on time. I'm sorry to say that Max wasn't able to come. His mom didn't call so I'm not sure what happened, but Angela said he wasn't in school yesterday so he might have been sick.
But Christopher came! Chris is a ball of energy who happens to have autism. Chris was just slightly wound up, and he's a pretty loud kid. All the school kids are used to him, but this was a new experience for some of my inlaws! I hoped for Chris's mom's sake that Dean would be right on time coming back, but of course...he wasn't.
Everyone arrived at 6:30. Dean was supposed to be back at 6:45 with the birthday girl. At 6:50 I hadn't heard from him yet. He wasn't answering his cell so I called applebees and he was STILL THERE! I told the person who answered, "Tell him he's LATE...drive FAST...we're falling apart here!" cuz really....Christopher was. His mom was wanting to leave because she was understandably stressed out and I know he would have been soooo disappointed. I assured her Chris was NOT bothering anyone! We're all used to him...it's ok.
at 7:05 Dean called and said they were 2 minutes away. This is when Chris bolted outside and started flying around the yard watching for Angela. His mom was in a panick "He's going to ruin your surprise." I told her no...Angela would be very surprised to find Chris in her driveway." At the last second I said, "Chris..quick...everyone is going to yell SURPRISE!!!!" He bolted into the house with the other kids just as Dean came around the corner.
Angela was VERY VERY surprised. She was hopping up and down and was oh so cute! I have it on video but I cannot get it to upload. (I'm very frustrated!) The kids danced to Reggae music while I got their drinks ready. I found these very cute pineapple water bottles at the party store. Then it was time for cake!
And presents!
But during presents she was fading FAST! She looked like she was going to fall over. She couldn't even get up to say goodbye to everyone...she just sat staring at people and her new presents. But, remember when I said she's so into dress up stuff? Here's her favorite gift. She wanted to wear it to school today. LOL
I'm desparately trying to get the video to upload, but I may not be able to work on it again till next week. I have to pack so we can leave town tomorrow morning.
