I am terrible about remembering people's names. We recently moved to a new neighborhood and have met A LOT of new people, who I can recognize but whose names I cannot remember. Joy has recently begun greeting people by saying "I'm Joy. What's your name?" She says it clear as a bell, and everyone answers her. This really saves me because I'm too ashamed to admit that I've forgotten people's names. Joy is also good about addressing people she does know by name when she sees them, so this also helps me. I have never been good with remembering names, so if anyone out there has a tip for me, that would be great. I think I just don't listen carefully enough when people introduce themselves. I'm working on it. In the meantime, I will rely on Joy to bail me out. Jenifer, mom to Joy Daisy

LMAO!!!!! I am the same way. I couldn't even remember all the kids in Justin's class....and some therapists. I joke and say I have early onset Alzheimer's. Sadly....I think my short term memory loss is lack of sleep and stress....so it ain't gettin better any time soon...LOL!!! BUT....I don't have anyone to bail me out cuz Justin doesn't talk yet (he's 4 1/2). I need to teach him so he can do as Joy does. I guess if you ever get an answer to help memory....let me know.....if I remember to reread this later!!!!!!! Good luck.

I have the same problem too. I can't remember names much. I have to look for something about the person to remind myself of their name. Sometimes that doesn't work but I have to keep trying. Usually after a while the name clicks in my mind. It takes work!

Good for Joy. She has either learned, or knows instintively that to remember a person's name, you have to use it a lot in the beginning. Several times in the first meeting, and at least at the beginning of each new conversation for a while. So they say: "Hi, I'm Judy-Lynn" and you right away say "Judy-Lynn, I have a cousin with that name." or whatever.
