Jason has contracted impetigo. Yuck, gross, blech, ugh. I've never even known anyone that had impetigo, let alone someone I live with!!!!!! Have no idea how/where he got it, he's never had it before. But, it's starting to clear up and he's not contagious anymore.
The good thing that did come out of this is he had to adjust to having cream put on his face. This is a kid who HATES, HATES, HATES having any type of lotion, cream, spray, anything on his skin. Refuses to have a bandaid on, etc. We have had to just let him get eaten up by mosquitos every summer because he freaks out over having anything put on his skin. The bites never bothered him, so we just kept our fingers crossed he didn't get . . . what is that you get from mosquito bites??? We have him wash with a deodorant body wash because putting on actual deodorant is pretty much out of the question. This is one of his last little "hang-ups" he has. (we've made it through the haircut stage, taking off shoes stage, won't eat hot foods stage, can't stand certain noises stage, etc., etc., etc., etc.)
Anyway, it has been an awful struggle the last few days to first of all get the antibiotic cream on his face and then for him to keep it on and not wipe it off. I have to give Brian credit though, he was very diligent about marching Jason right back into the bathroom to put more on if he wiped it off. His poor face looked sooooooo disgusting - I can't believe how fast it spread! I think that's why Brian was diligent about it - we both felt so bad he had to walk around with that on his face.
So . . . last night after his shower Jason got out the cream and showed Brian he was going to put on the cream all by HIMSELF!!!!!
Huh. Maybe we will actually get some bug spray on him this year!
