Since I've really posted much of anything but have been keeping up with all of our busy kids!!!
Alison is now 4 years old and (not that I'm biased in the least!!!) is becoming a beautiful little girl!!! She has grown in so many ways over the past 6 months and is doing very well in most areas. She LOVES school - and has been in a bit of funk for the past week during a break. Poor kid sits at the front door, backpack in one hand, lunch box in the other saying " Mommy, let go. Go car. Go School NOW!!!" This will go on for about an hour until I finally toss a Signing Time video in to distract her. One more week til summer session begins!!! ;D In September she will start a full day inclusive program. It is through the same school she has been at for the past 3 1/2 years but is set in a local elementary school as part of their universal pre-k program. I am praying this works out well for her especially since DH was dead set against this particular situation - but I prevailed on this one and am following my Mommy-Instinct. Alison was recently fitted for her first pair of SureSteps ( can you believe they are only JUST now becoming available around here? I can remember reading about them here before I finally ventured "out of the closet" when Alison was a couple of months old!!!). I cannot believe what a difference they have made in such a short time!!! Alison pronates big time and was constantly falling - so much so that I wouldn't put shorts or skirts/dresses on her anymore because she ALWAYS had scraped up, bloody knees, so bad that she ended up with an infection!!!! Well, all those pretty little girl dresses are on her, she hardly ever falls anymore, just what you'd expect for a little kid, kwim???
Alison's sisters, Caitlin & Sarah, are doing well also. Caitlin will be entering her Senior year of HS in September. She is volunteering at Alison's school but in a different class this summer ( her idea!!! ). She continues her search for the "perfect" job, much to the frustration of her Dad & I who think it's high time for her to join the labor pool!!! I can't believe she will be 17 in just a few weeks!!! Sarah is now 10 1/2 years old and will be starting 5th grade in September. She is proving to be the ultimate diva in our house, far more concerned about boys, cloths, makeup etc, than her sister ever has been! That is when she's not out playing hockey or football with the boys in the neighborhood!!! The girl will go from the prettiest, girliest outfit one minute to full hockey-goalie attire in a heartbeat!!! She wanted th goal-tending equipment for this past Christmas. She is also the musician of the lot of us. This year she played cello, bass, and flute at school, as well as piano lessons. She will be testing for her blue belt in TaeKwonDo at the end of the month. She competed last month in a TaeKwonDo youth competition and won First Place in Sparring (fighting) and Board-breaking and 3rd Place in Forms.
I've been mostly keeping out of trouble myself! Work has been "challenging" lately, lots of changes and moves that has everybody on edge. Not a very pleasant place to be!!!! I've been busy helping to establish a foundation in honor of my little cousin AJ to benefit those affected by ALD and to promote legislation to make screening for this horrible genetic condition part of routine newborn screening in every state. So far only about 15 states mandate screening for this disease. I've also been doing a lot of volunteer work at Alison's school and somehow "volunteered" to be chairperson for the annual auction in May 2008. This past auction raised almost $67,000 to be used to provide all those little "extras" that the kids love so much!!! What have I gotten myself into now!!!?!!!
I am really looking forward to seeing and meeting all of those who are going to the convention!!!! Not to mention looking forward to 3 whole days away from kids and DH!!!!
Hugs and prayers to all!!!
