Gotta love the internet, cuz where else can you ask some of these questions?
At what age did your girls start shaving their legs? Do they use a regular razor or an electric one? What about for arms?
Angela has dark german blood, and the hair that comes with it. Lucky her. She just turned 11 and the hair on her legs is starting to thicken. Not enough that she'd need to shave yet....but soon....I imagine by the middle of the school year or so.

Leah, Emily had her first offical "shave" by our friend Robin at an Uno Mas get together a few years ago. I occasionally give her a really thorough leg shaving with a regular (Venus) razor, but she uses an electric one by herself the rest of the time. She still has some sensory issues and the "light" touch of either kind of razor tends to sort of freak her out, so she doesn't always do a very thorough job of it. (Leaves patches of hairy areas, especially on the back of her legs.........I'm sure she assumes that if SHE can't see it, no one else can either! I keep thinking we'll try something like "Nair" or "Neet". I have heard that it works best if the hair is fairly long, so maybe we'll try that this winter when we're not as diligent about shaving every few days.

I use Nair, or Neet, or others all summer long. It works for me. The trick is to wait long enough for it to work and then use a very firm touch (no trouble for Emily ) to scrape it all off. I use a nylon scraper tool that's intended for use in cleaning non-stick pans. It works better than the razor-shaped razor that comes with some brands of dipilitories. The hair needn't be very long at all - it's not like wax that has to get a grip on the hairs, it is a chemical that dissolves the hair. You also need to remember to rinse the legs well after using it - chemicals. Chris, too

Not personal experience but my niece is kind of in the in between stage of not really being old enough to shave but needing something......anyway my sister uses hair lightener, Veet, especially on her arms where the hair is dark and more noticeable.

First I have a confession..lol...I think I am the only woman who has cut herself with that VEET razorbladeless thingy mabob..lol....So..I never used it again..
I still have a few more years before Kourtney shaves..Thank goodness..I am writing down all tips for further use..thank you...I had to shave me "typical" 15 year olds legs the first 2 times..She is a little lacking in grace like her mother..lol..

I just started shaving Courtney's legs and underarms this summer, she is 15. I have to shave her about once a week. She is a bit nervous about it but she does let me do it. I have not tried nair or neet, not sure that she would leave it on long enough, I will have to try it though.

I can't count how many times I cut my own shins as a teenaged shaver (or my ankles!), so I prefer the electric razor for Emily for now. If she cut herself just ONCE, she would totally write off the whole idea of shaving.

I started shaving my legs around the age of seventeeen I guess. I really don't remember. I just know that I was much older. My hair is very light. It is almost the same color of my hair on my head which is brown with auburn highlights. I can wait to shave for a long time. I use an electric shaver also. It is much easier for me. I tried the other ones and I would end up nicking myself. I don't remember if Mom showed me how but I am sure she did. I did it myself though. I would not let her do it for me. She told me to look real close and to start with my ankle and move upward. It is harder for me because I am so nearsighted. I of course wear my glasses but it can be still difficult to see the hair own down my lower leg near my ankle. I loved shaving. I felt like I was a woman for some reason. Now I don't care as much it just something I have to do once in a while.
