before victoria s first day at school i had a chat with the new principal, i asked if victoria was going to have an aide make sure she got off the bus and to class and back on the right bus at the end of the day,, she assured me that yes she would have an aide take care of that...well..... victoria never made it to grandmas house becuase they forgot to schedule a bus for her.... grandma was worried and went to the school lookn for her...... and there she was sittin in class..... they never called me at work or anything. so okay the next day(today) the bus never shows up for her at my house....... so i wait and i wait finally i go down to the school and take victoria to the office,, i said ,the bus never showed up for victoria..." oh" she says in that i dont really give a crap kinda voice... and i said u know she wasnt taken home yesterday, my mother in law had to pick her up and today no one came to pick her up.... well she says yeah theyre still workin on the bus schedules.......... and i kinda get sarcastic becuase ..... well im kinda and a hole sometimes...and i say so if there isnt a bus for her today are you going to take her home? and the sec. says no, i dont have a car... and i say "funny neither does victoria!" and i left..... by the way all the forms i had to fill out to get my kids registered.. i really like the disclaimer that you wont hold the school responsible if your kid gets hurt on the school grounds............... so i wrote in except in the case of negiligence on the part of the school and its employees , they never even noticed.

Wow. Sounds like the sec. is pretty useless. You'd think she'd be calling all over the system to find out what happened and what can be done to prevent it continuing. Gosh, what if Grandma hadn't been on the ball? Have you managed to contact someone useful yet? Did they bring her home okay today? Is the aide on the bus a good one?
What did Victoria think of her first day? I sure do hope she had a better time than Daddy & Grandma!

"i asked if victoria was going to have an aide make sure she got off the bus and to class and back on the right bus at the end of the day,, she assured me that yes she would have an aide take care of that..." You need to have that put in your IEP, having things in writing over verbal makes a big difference, least from my experience. Hope things went better today CC ~

Hey, that's not right! I'd be pretty upset if I were you! I hope Victoria's having a great time at school, though!

well the kids took turns standing with victoria in front of our home, to make sure she wouldnt miss her bus, finallly their rides arrived and then it was my turn to wait with victoria.... finally all the buses had gone by .. so we waited and waited... so i said come on victoria lets go for a walk and we started walking to the school we got to the end of the block and i turn around and the bus shows up at my house.... then they just parked there and made victoria walk all the way back to the bus to pick her up...but i say "hey lets not confuse the nice bus driver , or tomorrow she will be waiting at the end of the block for us instead of our house" the aide was right there to help her up the stairs.. btw we went from four kindergarten teachers to two because of budget cuts and the school is sending a special bus to pick up victoria and one other child when she rode the regular school bus to preschool for three years!! seems like a waste of money to me..

HUH!!! Ok, I have all kinds of questions here, but I won't ask them all now.
Does Victoria go to the same school as any of her siblings? If so, why isn't she riding the bus with them? You don't HAVE to send her on a special ed bus. You can say, "No, she'll ride the regular ed bus with all the other kindergarteners!"
I think you need to get an advocate and have them go over Victoria's IEP with you. It sounds like either lots of things are missing from it, or they're just not complying with it.

Here is our set up. Haley is using transportation in the morning only - she is entering middle school this year for me ;D ;D for her! Anyway, the head of our transportation has met Haley and told us if I need trans service, call him and he will send the regular bus to her home! Isn't that awesome! I called and Haley is all set - he is even coordinating where Haley's aide is to meet her in the morning as the driver will not let her just go!! One happy, little less scared Momma here!!!

lol victoria loves school... so no problems there , her teacher called me today and was trying to convince me that the only way they could guarantee victoria made it to class was if she rode the special bus, because the aid waits with the kids till the teachers get them off the bus.. i kept tellin her that ws fine with me , no problems here, but she just kept trying to convince me.... i thought she was acting really nervous,, though i dont know her well, so i dont know if this is a personality quirk, or maybe i have a reputation at the school as a psycopathic parent. i kept telln her okay , no problem, anyway i changed the subject to victoria and she calmed down and we had a nice conversation about victorias talents .... my only problem with the special bus is this.. they had to let two kinder teachers go because of budget cuts and here they are driving my daughter and one or two other special needs kids in a full size bus, when they could be putting their resources to better use by buying a "short bus" or van , maybe the teacher was nervous becuase my mother in law MOMZILLA went down there the first day.... and thats pretty scary!!!

LOL - Momzilla. I love it! Hey, if you have problems with the way the district is allocating dollars, maybe you should run for school board? Make real changes. Fight the big fights. I'd vote for you.
