Cbean... I am torn... Kevin and I really wanted to do the Atlanta Conference.. and since it was the week after the Pitts date picked.. there was just no way work wise and $$ wise we could pull this off... mainly work wise... both Atlanta and Pitts are a 9 hour drive if we don't stop. So.. we are torn... so torn.... so sadly torn.... **sniff** A.

Ok, the rates for both the Holidome and the Monroeville hotel are for a room w/ 2 double beds. I only asked about those rooms because I assumed (yeah, I know what happens when you assume!!! ) that is what pretty much everybody would need!

For us, I think it would be better to decide what activities we want to do ............I mean which park we want to go to, and then search for the closest hotel (Holidome, etc) to it. I think that driving 45 minutes or so to a water park or amusement park is too far; especially for those with younger children.
I'm not sure if it's a coincidence that we always tend to use Holiday Inns........although we stayed once at a Baymont Inn and it was nice too. There are benefits of different places. Holiday Inn EXPRESS hotels have an awesome free breakfast, and that is always helpful for a family of five! The other Holiday Inns advertise that kids eat free with an adult, but the adult meals can be pricey. Holidome's generally have a larger indoor pool area with various games, miniature golf areas, etc. Holiday Inn Select is one that is geared toward business travelers and tends to not be quite as kid friendly.
We're not in a huge hurry, YET. Let's keep talking about each place. I like both of the amusement parks after looking at their websites.

As nice as it is for us to stay at the holidome which Susan and I always perfer, I am not up for an extra hour drive back and forth to the parks we want to go to. So I say a regular Holiday Inn is the better way to go and cheaper too, lets just stay at the monroeville one. CC----- the rooms at Holiday Inns are always nice and decent sized also, not cramped. I just cant wait..... hugs, Robin

OK~I wasn't even going to reply to this thread because the last couple of get togethers I thought we might make and then ended up not being able to do it~but I just cant stay out of it~I really want to see everyone!
I was talking to Bernie about it and he seemed to think Pittsburg was a reasonable drive~just over 7 hours for us~as usual the issue is money and how much we will have at the time. I can't commit to going now but as the date gets closer I will know more. So hopefully I will be seeing everyone in July!

Robin: the Holiday Inns here arn't that great....the newest ones are the Holiday Inn Express variety. Check the hotels listed near Sandcastle (would be listed as Homestead or the Waterfront I believe) That would put you all close to activities. However, check out Greensburg or New Stanton if everyone wants to do Idlewild (it has an inclusive waterpark with your ticket + Mr Rogers Neighborhood) & Steeler training camp. I'm sure Mike would take the guys to any of the race tracks: NASCAR is Fri nights, Mud Bog is Sat. He'll be here the weekend of the 14th...the next weekend he's at camp. Also let me know if you want me to book us at one of the big park pavillions at any of these spots. My honest suggestion would be the Idlweild park over Kennywood as far as the kids go since you can bop from the water to the rides all day & they have a big climbing maze & train rides & stuff. They're adding a new multi-million dollar expansion of the waterpark. www.idlewild.com/Whoever decides let me know. We also need to check when the All Star game is downtown because that could rule out some stuff & some hotels.

There are also river boat cruises downtown. www.gatewayclipper.com/They leave from right next to the Hard rock Cafe at Station Square. there is a big Sheraton attached to the comples & the 2 inclines board right there with shuttles to the stadiums & science center. www.stationsquare.com/~I'm going to have everyone so confused

OK guys, I checked into when the baseball all-star game is going to be.......
It is on July 20th..... which is the Thursday after we'll be getting together.
I think that if we're going to do this in PGH we best decide exactly where we want to stay and fast as I'm sure rooms will be at a premium!!!
So, lets try to make up our mind quickly!!!
