Pittsburgh has a great zoo.... a wonderful science center.... there's a relatively small amusement park ( with a GREAT wooden roller coaster)...... www.kennywood.comIf memory serves me right and heaven knows it often times doesn't!!! there is al lso a water park in the area too. I'll see what else I can remember.... it's been a while since we were down there! Barb

Barb, Kennywood looks like fun to me! And if we could find a water park, that would be even better!!!! The one thing I like about Pittsburgh is that it should be close enough for some of our friends from NJ (several there!!) and other East coast areas could come!
Any other thoughts???

K, I don't know how you do these get togethers as I have never been on one BUT if this works here is a list of other parks in the area of the Kenny wood Amusement Park Idlewild Park Many consider Idlewild Park, the third oldest amusement park in the United States, the most beautiful park anywhere -- and for a good reason. Nestled in the woodlands of the beautiful Laurel Mountains, Idlewild takes full advantage of its picturesque, relaxed setting. Idlewild has long been a favorite summertime gathering place for families and groups, providing wholesome, quality entertainment in an environment that is beautiful, safe and clean. With seven themed areas that include exciting rides, the wet and wild SoakZone, the original Story Book Forest, Jumpin' Jungle, Hootin' Holler, a trolley ride through Mister Rogers' Neighborhood of Make-Believe, live entertainment, and much more, it's easy to see why there is "So Much Fun All in One Place!" Visit their web site today! Click here to download the Idlewild and Soakzone 2006 brochure. Sandcastle Waterpark Sandcastle has become Pittsburgh's wildest and wettest summer playground and is just minutes from the Golden Triangle of Pittsburgh on Rt. 837 between the Homestead High Level and Glenwood bridges. Enjoy Mon Tsunami, the wildest wave pool east of the pacific and 15 twisting, turning, plunging, and churning waterslides. There are pools for adults (including the world's largest hot tub) and pools for kids (including Wet Willie's WaterWorks ). Surrounding it all is the Lazy River, a gently flowing stream where you can float on an inner-tube for hours. If water is not your thing or you just want to take a break from the action, why not enjoy the food, gift shops, or arcade? All are conveniently located on the old fashioned boardwalk. Visit their web site today! Click here to download a 2006 Sandcastle brochure. RiverPlex at Sandcastle Waterpark Riverplex is located along the beautiful shores of the Monongahela River, adjacent to Sandcastle. There are tree-lined walkways along the river and wooded areas surrounding the 400,000 square-foot landscaped area. The center field is an open, grassy area perfect for entertainment, games, and activities of all kinds. Riverplex at Sandcastle provides a new option for those who prefer a more traditional picnic or event without the rides of Kennywood or the slides of Sandcastle. Riverplex is available by reservation only to groups of 50 or more. Click here to learn more about Riverplex and its options. Kennywood 4800 Kennywood Boulevard West Mifflin, PA 15122 412-461-0500

Okay.. Sounds Like Christie is up for Pittsburgh... CC don't you relaize that giving this group too many choices in not a really good idea???
LOL.. Its nice to see all the excitement I have checked out the distance from me to Monroeville/Pittburgh area
815.2 miles or 12 hours 32 minutes form my house...now if I stop at my moms its only 500 miles and 7 hours 40 minutes. Hmm that could possibly be arranged.
At least now I have something to ponder for a month or two.
Hugs,
Cathy

WOW CC!!!!! How did we ever do a get together without you??? You've done an awesome job of researching hotels and fun stuff to do! WTG! Annette~ I haven't looked into the indoor water park you mentioned yet, but most times the indoor ones are wonderful in the winter..........but WAY more expensive, and I love being outdoors in the summer. I'm hoping we can find a place near where we'll be. Hershey Park is great....but it's 3 hours farther East. So, can we officially say that ONE of the Uno Mas summer get togethers will be held in PITTSBURGH? ? For anyone who lives farther WEST, please please plan something closer to that direction.............it's too much fun to miss! Susan

Okay, I am being harassed by Susan for not remembering to post so here goes..... Yes for us to Pittsburg, yes to sand castle water park and yes to HOLIDAYINN and that is ONLY if CC promises she will come. Lets make this the biggest one yet and put Donnita in charge of finding us the closest Holiday INN to the water park, what do you say? Hows that for posting and being pushy all at the same time Susan Louise? I am crossing my fingers and hoping everyone within at least 8 hours from there will drive to meet us all. Holiday Inns are the best, kids eat free and it is always so nice and CLEAN, indoor and putdoor pools, and does this mean I am going to see Anettes baby and CBEAN'S baby before they are 18? And I'll get to meet Jon Jon before he is a teen so Chase can show him how to scale taller fences and does this really really really mean I will get to see my boyfriend Steven Maria son ...it has been almost three years!!!!!! I am so pumped!!!!! hugs and love, Robin
