Has anyone ever watched It's Always Sunny In Philedelphia? It is this show that Danny Devito has produced and maybe directed. I am not really sure. He may be in it also. This show is only for adults by the way. This one segment is about the word we all don't like. It starts out by the certain people in cast talking about a person they think is "Retarded." This one segment is about this man. This woman says would never date a guy who had Mental Retardation. I guess the whole part is about dating a certain guy who she thinks might be mentally retarded but she wonders if he would know if he was. I just couldn't believe it. This really offended me and turned me off. I simply turned off the TV. I will not say to not watch this show but, if you do, remember that nothing is sacred on this show but then, what is these days? I had been watching a movie before this show came on. It was called Shallow Hal. I didn't get to watch all of it but most of it. I was far bettered entertained in this movie especially to see how it ended. If anyone has ever seen Shallow Hal you know what I mean. If anyone like a shallow man can learn to accept and love someone as they are then I know people can be. I know, it is just a movie!
Maybe some of you already know about this show, It is Always Sunny In Philedelphia?

I think "Retard" is one of Devito's favorite epithets. Sad really, cause he's otherwise a very good commedian.

I like Bill Cosby. I watched just about all of his shows. There a very few that I like though. My sister liked Richard Pryor when we were kids in high school.

Debbie, I did see the episode you are talking about. My husband and I usually love "It's always sunny in Philadelphia" and think it is one of the funniest shows on TV. Well, until this episode. It is definitely an adult show and the characters have no morales or values whatsoever. We usually laugh at the outrageous things they do and say and sceme. This episode was different for me. I did not like it and did not think it was funny. I will probably not watch it for a while, but I can't say I will never watch it again.
In defense of the show, I think they were careful not to use the word "retard" or another offensive word. They only used "retarded" and they did not make fun of the guy. The characers on the show are not politically correct, which is what usually makes the show funny. I could not see these people saying "cognitively delayed" or another, more apporopriate term. Of course they must have said retarded a thousand times during the show, which was a little overkill.
So basically, yes I saw the episode. I thought it was in poor taste, but I wouldn't go as far as saying I was offened or found it offensive. I did not think it was funny, but like you said, I can turn it off. Oh, and I did like Shallow Hal.
