Ok, I like the idea of the waterpark or even SouthPark w/its wave pool on Saturday. We won't get in until about 11am on Saturday ( plan to hit the road between 7 - 7:30am and heaven help the person who says where's the next bathroom!!!) but can easily meet up with everyone where ever. Ladies night on Saturday sure sounds good for me, especially if some will be heading out on Sunday. For us, the amusement park is a must do (Caitlin & Sarah will have major league hissie fits if I don't do that at somepoint) and it really doesn't matter when, my biggest problem is going to be Alison and sleep - go during the day, she gets no nap..... go at night, she gets a nap but then is up really late ( she normally goes to bed at 8pm.) Just a thought here..... if Kennywood is still like it was 15 yrs ago, I remember that the later in the day it got. the more obnoxious teens/young adults were roaming. You know the type who go around in groups and have some of the foulest mouths I've ever heard!!! Don't know about you guys but I can definitely do without that! We'll be staying in PGH Sunday night and heading out sometime Monday..... I'm supposed to work at 5:30pm but I'm hoping to switch and have Monday off and work a different evening that week ( also known as Friday night! YUK!) Question for you there SuziF....... any chance there's a Red River BBQ near where we will be staying? When we lived down there in Wexford there was one just down the hill and we loved their food!!!! I know there was one in Monroeville sort of near that mall but don't remember if there was one over by Century III. DH has already requested that I stop at one to get some of there Dare Devil Sauce to bring home!!! Barb

Barb~ I'll check, I honestly don't know if there is still a Red River anywhere here. There are alot of new things on rt30. The only one I knew of was mcKNight road, near Ross Park... Kennywood wasn't bad last month when we were there~ there's strong security there so you may have teenagers, but no gangs or anything like that. You have to go thru metal detectors & all to get in. The biggie now is that after 5 there's a cheaper admission rate for night. Oh & you now need to get your exit pass up at the ft gate, not inside the park how it used to be.

Susan,
I sent them an email and the girl called me back on Monday and here is the deal. They have a combo pass for 22.95 per person which will give you the day at Sandlewood and an evening at Kennywood from 5-10 pm. The girl said that Kennywood can be easily done in the 5 hour time frame. She also told me that I would have to give them a 72 hour notice to get the group rate. Also Sandlecastle hours are from 11-6 or 7 pm. She said that it varies depending on the crowd. You need a group of 10 or more to get the discount tickets. Also you need to all be there together if we plan on getting the tickets the same day. One person will go in and get them for the group. I asked about picking them up the day before but then I would have to pay up front for them. There is also another rate for kids under 46 inches. They are 10.95 for Sandlecastle and then 9.95 for Kennywood so their total would be 20.90, but then they don't count in the group total. She said I could call her back with a total count when we have it. So are we still doing Sandlewood on Saturday? and then Kennywood on Sunday night?
How many people do we have coming? I thought Robin was coming? What about Donnita?

Thanks so much for calling them Joyce!! I just sent you an email.
I think this is a great plan! (Especially since they don't open till 11am on Sat morning and I'm going to be getting in really late Fri night!)
SO............should we start a new thread so everyone can post how many combo tickets they need? Three tickets for my family.
Robin, unfortunately, can not come. It's going to be strange to have a get together without her!! I haven't heard from Donnita in WAY too long, so I am not sure about her. Donnita.........please post up and tell us you've been planning on coming all along!

Joyce~ The under 46" thing is only for non-riders (babes in arms basically) as otherwise you have to pay per ride for them. We get $5 after 5pm admission at Kennywood as part of our Idlewild season pass so we'd just be in on it if we're getting group rate at Sandcastle & that's what time everyone's shooting for at Kennywood~ I'm inclined to just say I'll wing it as I don't know exactly what time Sat my guys will get in from Boy Scout camp & I don't want to hold everyone else up at the gate. (that part's true ~ we had to wate 90 min for part of our group last year when our Church went)

Well, only a few more days till we meet everyone! Very excited! We are coming in Friday night, after work....probably around 6:30pm. What are everyone else's plans? Maybe we could arrange to meet somewhere in the hotel. Can't wait!

Dolly, I'm sad to say I will not be meeting up with anyone on Friday night, unless you all want to stay up till 1am for me!! I'm guessing I'll meet up with everyone at breakfast instead! I'm really looking forward to it.
Maybe someone can leave a message for me at the desk with their room number, so I'll know how to reach someone in the group? Thanks!!

Hey Susan, can I include myself to that request as well. My son has a taekwondo test that afternoon, so we'll be getting a later start than we had planned. Hope you all enjoy Friday and we'll be meeting you at the breakfast table as well. What's our final count anyway??? Excited, very excited, Christine

Christine~ I am thinking there are 10 families.........probably around 38+ people.
Jessie (4) Joyce (5) Annette (6) Pat (4 or 5) Barb (4) Dolly (3) Susan (3) Christine (4) Deanna (5) Suzi (dpends!)
And hopefully Donnita??? She and her mom and her lovely girls just have to come!
It is NOT too late for anyone who lives within driving distance from Pittsburgh to join us! I have heard that they are still honoring the group rate at the hotel, and Joyce can still get group tickets prices for the amusement/water park till Thursday.

Ok, I'm very sad everyone, but we can't make it to Pittsburgh. Many variables have made it just impossible to go, including: Two separate out-of-town guests - who do they think they are anyway, ruining my vacation???!! Construction crew needs to work over the weekend to get back on schedule with the new garage - ok, so maybe I shouldn't have cracked the whip quite so hard to make them want to do this Me and Brian are going to Wyoming the following weekend - I just was not putting this together that we would be gone the following weekend as well. And, lastly, when we get back from Wyoming, I will be turning around to fly to Chicago and then to Washington D.C. for work, not seeing my baby girl for waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy too long. The funny thing is, I would trade ALL of these things to be able to go to Pittsburgh, however, I am having a hard time convincing Brian and my boss (NOT the same person, LOL) to agree with me. Have fun everyone. Oh - and someone MUST squeeze Miss Emily's cheeks for me! (CBean's Emily) Jessie
