Kissing???! ! This is the strangest thing...cute but strange!!! Collin will not kiss (peck) on the lips. He has to kiss on the cheeks or he will not kiss you. If, you turn your head to trick him to kiss you on the lips he will growl at you and physically turn your head. It's one of the funniest things I've seen. I've never seen this listed as something being on the x-tra 21st chromosome like ketsup or growling but maybe I missed something!!! Connie

Who are you trying to get him to kiss? Just mom and dad? I'm sorry, but I wouldn't force a kiss on any child, even my own, if I knew they didn't like it. It just wouldn't sit right with me at all. A child has a right to establish their own boundaries, and he has pretty clearly established his. Tricking them is forcing them. Hopefully he will not have people in his adult life who try to trick him into a kiss or other things. Please don't teach him now that this can happen, even if you're his mother. Respect the boundaries he has established for himself.

Ok.... It's not like I am physically holding him down making him kiss me. It's all fun and games!!! I'm not abusing my child!! We are not "TRICKING" him to be mean we are just playing around teasing. He has a very well developed sense of humor and gets a joke. He's a little prankster himself and has no problem pushing your buttons just to get a rise out of you!! So we turn the tables!!! He has set several boundaries that I wish I could respect but just can't such has having his blood drawn, getting his hair cut, clipping his nails. I don't trick him into these things but I have to make him do them because they are not an option!!! I would never make him give someone a hug and kiss if he didn't want to!!! I wouldn't do this to any of my children. But, call me a BAD mommy if you want but I enjoy teasing my all of kids and playing around...not just with him!! I treat him like the rest of my kids. He is no different!!! Connie

I am NOT calling you a bad mom. Anything but! Guess I have my own issues about what happens when someone forces a kiss on you, or tricks you into kissing their mouth, when you've made it clear you don't want to. Even in fun and games.

Connie Justin is like that also, you can tell him "Give me a kiss" and he will come to you and bend his head so you can his forhead, we also play around and when he goes to kiss me on my forhead Ill raise up and sometimes he gets me on the face and he will say 'NoNo ilyy(silly) mom" its all in fun like you said, we even tease his big bubba who is almost 16, Ill chase him around the house saying"Mommy going to kiss you all over" we all get a big kick out of it.
But Justin does have set boundaries but some I do have to break like washing his hair, but also like you said I would never make him kiss someone he didnt want to.

both my boys have shared the same behavior related to kissing, bending to kiss forhead-when they leaned to pucker was cute-but kyle wanted to kiss on lips and would get upset when we told him on the cheek(kinda the reverse of your child) but it is funny to hear such stories, hair cuts are a very big thing around here, not in a good way.

Eric is a Lip pucker-er too! But mostly with Mom and Dad. He usually kisses his neices on the cheek, forehead, etc. But he doesn't only limit his kissing to the facial area...last week while waiting in line to sign him in at school, the decided to "kiss" the lady in front of us "behind"! Just alittle peck...she hardly felt it, but I was mortified! She just laughed. Eric didn't seem to think anything was wrong, even after I tried to explain that this was a "no-no" behavior. Hopefully he'll get the point, and this is just a "phase". Or it could mean I have a little 'Politician" on my hand...but instead of kissing babies, he kisses behinds! (he's way ahead in learning how politics work! lol).

LOL, Connie, my littlest one, Aidan is one who wants you to kiss him on the head. We'll ask him for a kiss, and he'll bend his head forward for you to kiss him on the top of the head. I'll tease him and say "Hey, give me those LIPS!" LOL! Sometimes he'll do it, sometimes he won't, but it's all a big game.
Ethan however, will definitely kiss on the lips. So if it's on the 21st chromosome he missed it!

Well--I have to say I have a kisser on my hands. Dani is a big cuddler, hugger and kisser. She is very affectionate to her dolls too. Quite the little mommy.
I will have to start putting boundaries around that as it will not be acceptable in school as she will be starting kindergarten next year.
However, with that being said. I hope one day, when Dani is older and finds a mutual love interest, she will enjoy the pleasure of kissing.
Keep on kissing, laughing, joking, enjoying and having fun. They grow up toooooo fast.

Pat, LOL...maybe my DH could take lessons from him. He's forever kissing me on the forehead, and I politely remind him I'm his wife not his child!!! danikins...Collin is a real snuggler and hugger!! I have tried to teach him (and others) that hugging is not appropriate because while cute now it will not be when he is older. But then I stopped and thought about our kids...they seem to have a sixth sense about them that we don't. Collin is really good at telling when someone needs a hug. I don't know how many people I've had tell me that his hugs did their soul good!! They they needed it. So, now I've began to rethink my logic!! Connie

Sarah kisses on the lips but will often give the cheek or forehead. Sometimes I wonder if it is the person's breath. What she really loves is to have her hand kissed. She will present her hand in your face for a kiss. Last year there was a little boy in her class who was happy to kiss her hands all day. Her teacher tells me that all the boys want to hug and kiss my girl. By lunch time, her teacher is telling the boys to please leave Sarah alone. She is in an MoCI classroom and the kids are all very affectionate. We are trying to teach boundries. Chris

It's funny Collin is like that, Russell is almost the opposite but the same. Russell "learned" to kiss on the lips (open slobbery mouth mind you!) and if you try to get him to kiss you on the cheek he will move around to get your lips. It's like a learned behavior for Russell that you only kiss the lips! LOL
