I was dreading clothes shopping for Joy this spring because no pants fit my child. Jeans fall off her butt and are always waaaay too long. Elastic-waist pants work ok, but I still have to cut them off. Well, much to my delight, a trip to Target this evening revealed that Bermuda shorts are the "in" thing for spring and summer. I picked Joy up a couple of pairs with a drawstring waist. Granted, these Bermuda shorts are supposed to be knee-length, but on Joy they were PERFECT capris!! She looked adorable, so tomorrow I will get every color! Finally, a successful clothes shopping trip! Jenifer, mom to Joy Daisy

Heh that's great, are you going back for more? I know I would, lol So these bermudas you got, are they a wider leg, unlike the capris? I forgot the definition of bermuda!

Jenifer, I think some here buy capris for pants. They're the right legnth. So keep your eyes out for them too. As for John-John, they don't make capris for him lol I do find target a great place for elastic waisted pants though. Pat

We have the same problem and jeans are the worst! I've discovered that Land's End has these great, comfy and attractive elastic waist pants for girls that are called "yoga flares"...they are a perfect fit and look really tidy and come in cool patterns. Target has a very similar (much less expensive version) of "yoga flares" for girls and they are almost as good a quality as the Land's End version.

I love the spring, because Capri's are in and like someone else said...I buy them and they fit perfectly as full length pants! We have the same problem with length of pants and sleeves on shirts/sweaters/coats...I guess you could say everything

Beware elastic waist pants. They are responsible for much weight gain and they do not encourage proper posture or the drawing in of the belly which must be done purposefully by those with low tone. Overweight & poor posture add up to bad knees, backs & hips, not to mention foot troubles.

Moving to a warmer climate in Texas has been a real boon to Emily's wardrobe. She wears capris year round. They are "almost" pant length but sometimes a bit of her ankle shows...which in my part of Texas where she would need socks..makes them look silly...but where she lives...a pair of sandles and ankle showing is ..."the look"! We only have trouble when she comes home for short visits...and she has some altered pants for those trips.

I buy Courtney's jeans at JC Penny. They are elastic waist and in misses sizes. I buy the petite short and they fit her in the length perfect. I also buy the capris in the summer.

I found some great pants and shorts at JC Penny. They have Plus size clothing. Lauren wears a 16 regular but she has to squeeze into them. At Penny's she wears a 12 1/2 in the plus. They have great shirts too that are longer and fit over the belly. It has been a huge blessing as NOTHING fits her.

I used to buy capri's for Lia- to fit like pants. Elastic waist ones like Nike and Adidas- You can find them in JCP outlet pretty cheap at times. Gymboree and children's place has plus size down to 4 I think. Now that Lia is thinner, I still get the plus size for the shorter length. 3/4 length sleeves are great for long sleeve tops. Everything for girls is really Slim. I have started buying her some Hanna Anderson stuff. It is a lot roomier. nancy

Hooray for a good shopping trip, Jenifer!!! When I was Christmas shopping this year, I found a pair of American Eagle capri's (size 0) at a store that carries overstocked items or things that are no longer being sold in the actual stores. They were marked $5, so I figured it was worth a try. But when I got to the cash register, the woman said "ohhhhhhhhh these have been marked down to a BUCK"!!!!!!! I measured them against a pair of jeans that fit Emily perfectly and then wrapped them up for Christmas. She has worn them all Winter! (As jeans...........just the right length!)
One thing we have encountered with shopping for Emily. For years (probably the last 4 years?) she has worn a size 10plus. Not that she's chubby, but the 10 plus (or 10 1/2) size is the right size in the waist and usually the right length. I bought some 10 1/2 denim shorts about 3 years ago at JCPenney's, and she's STILL wearing them. Interestingly, they are looser now than they were when we bought them!
