Bob posted this in the Book Forum, no one had commented, not sure how many had seen it. So I am bringing it to the general forum. www.mylifetime.com/on-tv/movies/memory-keepers-daughter/aboutAbout the Movie Premieres Saturday, April 12 at 9 pm et/pt The birth of a child should be the happiest moment in a couple’s life. But when a doctor’s wife has twins, one of whom has Down syndrome, this physician makes the difficult decision to send one of his babies away. An attending nurse discovers his plan and intervenes, putting into motion events that will haunt the doc, his wife and his son for the next 20 years. This all-star movie features Dermot Mulroney (“The Wedding Date”), Gretchen Moll (“3:10 to Yuma”) and two-time Oscar nominee Emily Watson (“Angela’s Ashes”). Based on The New York Times best-selling novel, Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards. Sharon

I hope they do a better job with this than they did with JEWEL...by Brett Lott.
Jewel was such a well written book...and a true story. I think the tv producers mangled it.
I liked the Memory Keeper's Daughter (except for the implausible beginning) and thought they handled the topic of DS quite well...so am hoping they do the tv version well. It is a tv movie, isn't it?

Yes Jackie, it is a made for TV movie. I wish it wasn't, I wish it was a theater movie, the producers etc. have more leeway with time, etc.. Made for TV movies have to fit in a certain time slot, etc. I am wondering how they will fit the time span of the book into the time constraints of TV.
I also agree about Jewel. I hope this is bette.r

That should be interesting. I wonder if we will get to see it here in the UK? The only thing is I remember reading on another board, not very long ago that they were casting for the part of the girl, they must have made the film quickly then.

If it is a tv movie it probably will not be anything like the book. Remember Riding the Bus With My Sister? The tv movie was different than the book. I am glad I read the book first. I will watch the tv movie just see for myself.

Bumping this, just in case anybody else needs to remember to set up VCR on Sat. evening, though probably all the young chics on here will just TIVO. I'm looking at a busy weekend. Lynn thinks I'm driving her to Wilmington, Delaware to see Idina Menzel in concert. Then Sat. morning is supposed to be opening day for Miracle League, but looks like it could be a rainout. Well, that's baseball, wasn't it Kevin Costner in Bull Durham, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes it rains? Anybody else going to be at the Baby Grand tomorrow evening? Cheers, Bob

Bob, So Idina sings too?? The only time I've ever seen her was in "Enchanted".

Uh, yeah. Kind of ironic, I think she did an original song for Enchanted, maybe even something she wrote, but it wound up on the cutting room floor. She's currently touring promoting her new album, I Stand, all her songs. Before Enchanted she was the original Elphaba in Wicked, won Tony, and before that was the original Maureen in Rent, nominated for a Tony but didn't win--wonder who did, don't remember. And she's not hard to look at. -- Bob

The movie is on the Life Time Channel here. We have two of them. We have The Life Time Channel and the Life Time Movie Channel. I am not sure which channel it is on. I do know the movie will show this coming Saturday evening. I want to watch it but, I have my singles group tomorrow night. Debbie

OK. Idina was good. But she did use the "R" word, then corrected herself, still trying to be funny, to say "mentally challenged." I didn't like that. 'Course, she also used the f word, the b word, the c word and a few other words. Those didn't bother me. And then today I thought we were going to get to play after all but they canceled at the last minute due to bad weather. We were a little late, as usual. But Charlie was ready to play. Hope for sunny skies and dry field, and no threat of lightning, next week. Now I've got to go find a tape. -- Bob
