I found a cool website www.bestbuddies.orgAny of you have first-hand experience with this org? The concept is awesome and right along the lines of what I am looking for in Ryan's middle and high school years. There is a job opening in Los Angeles to manage the best buddies high schools' program, and I hinted to DH to look into it. What better way to establish programs in our area? LOL Don't think it will happen but worth a shot. Jodi

Bumping up an old thread. But just saw article about them. They got a good piece of press last month in the Chicago Tribune littlelink.webtrouble.com/?XuQePoints out the importance of their work and puts it into context. -- Bob

None of our Universities around here have the program but I have some friends who are parents of adults that had a buddy for their child and are still doing things with the program. It's great if you can get hooked up with it.

Olivia is hooked up for the best buds program for next year . I'm glad too as she'll be in a new school. Can you believe she'll be in middle school? NOT puttin her in our middle school here though. Have a her going to a school she LOVED LOVED LOVED from the very first visit. AND there are GIRLS in her class for next year. Her and a very talkative girl named Jackie had a blast talkin n playing the couple times she went there. Fingers crossed. She is doing her ESY at her new school too so by next sept she'll have the place down. The bad part about it is that she won't be able to get a ride from me and her old school is our home school so its literally a 1 minute drive 10 minute walk although with Olivia it's a 35 min walk/ Oh how she loves to stopn smell the roses as well as mess with my head.lol.Jodi did you ever hook up with the program? Thanks for the info btw and take care. (((HUGS))) Steff

There is a program like this at our high school, and I've been impressed with it! Emily has thoroughly enjoyed the peer buddies!!
