oh my gosh....on the Today Show...New Kids on the Block...LOL. This was Emily's first fan obsession...she was mad for Donnie!!!!
And THEY ARE BACK....lots of women in the background screaming...LOL. Wonder if Em will have any interest at all. Can't even remember what they sang.
Wonder if Donnie will become competition for Jack?

Ok...now this will show you how very normal (sorry...'typical' just will not roll easily off of my tongue...LOL) our kids really are...Em was just about 9 or 10 when these guys started out. I was laughing with her sibs today online about how disgusted they got with her for her obsession...constant playing of the music and the ugly Donnie doll that was forever in the middle of the kitchen table it seems...LOL. For those of you old enough it was very "in" if you were older or in your teens to say..."gag" when the New Kids appeared.
But it left me thinking about how it really never dawned on us how very much like other young kids her age Emily was in acting this way. No one "taught" her about them...showed her how to have a crush on Donnie...etc. It was all something she did by taking clues from her environment and her peers. At the time WE all hoped the group would just fall off the earth...but...in reality we should have been rejoicing that she was so into this. She was only in 3 or 4 grade...but she was almost totally included and I think this is one very good example of how inclusion fosters the growth of social skills.
And my guess is that for Emily ...they are way in the past. I also noticed on the Apprentice the other night that the BSB are also back...and no word from her on that group.

Donnie Wahlberg is quite the actor these days. Isn't he on a TV show? Maybe on HBO?? I'm sure someone knows which one. But don't confuse him with his brother, Mark Wahlberg, also an actor, formerly known as "Marky Mark"!

Donnie Walberg, sorry if I misspelled his name, has been in a few movies including the HBO miniseries, Band of Brothers. Mark was in The Italian Job, or something like that. He was also in The Perfect Storm. Debbie
