to feeling like a 15 year old groupie!!!! Last night we went to see Cheap Trick and Lyndyrd Skynyrd in concert up in Mt. Pleasant (at our favorite casino and resort). Of course, I was so pleased to see Cheap Trick, been a fan forever, seen them 11 or 12 times - I keep going to see them thinking it might be the last time. I mean they are ancient and they have to give up touring at some point!
Anyway, we had just checked out of the hotel this morning and were waiting for our Jeep and lo and behold - the limo with the guys from Cheap Trick was right there!!!! Did I mention I used to be an obsessed fan? LMAO
Anyway, the bass player was standing outside of the limo talking to the driver so I went up and chatted with him for oh about 30 seconds. But I was thrilled! Little did I know it, but the singer (who in my opinion was going to be my husband back when I was about 15 years old - LOL), was already in the limo so I didn't get to talk to him.
So, after talking to the bass player I reverted back to being a 36 year old pregnant wife. But, it sure was thrilling for that 30 seconds!
Ok, for those of you that need a different frame of reference, this might be like you guys meeting DONNY OSMOND or LEIF GARRETT!!! LOL!!!! Actually, my oldest sister met Donny Osmond at the casino about two years ago and it was a HUGE thrill for her - she was 44 at the time.
I guess you just never lose that feeling for those guys you have crushes on now matter how old you are and how silly it seems!

Too funny Jessie! We've got tickets to go see Cheap Trick later this summer at one of the casino's over in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada and I can't wait!
Had to laugh about the reference to those of us who may "need a different time reference", a few years ago my sister's roommate was working as a costumer with the stage production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat in Boston, Ma. She got us tickets while I was out visiting. During intermission she sent a message out to us to meet her at the stagedoor immediately after the play was done. I GOT TO MEET DONNY OSMOND!!! I can remember in 8th grade leading a petition in our school to try to get ABC not to cancel the Donny and Marie show! I saved babysitting money to buy his albums ( yes, the big black vinyl things! LOL ) and posters.... guess you could say I was obsessed with Donny Osmond! Anyway, I have to say he was so nice to us, let my girls try on "the" coat, autographed their programs and took pictures with us! He just came across as a genuinely "nice" person, not like he was just doing these things because he kind of had to, KWIM? I've met several other celebrities who were just shy of being downright rude and ignorant and it was so refreshing to meet someone who seemed to truely enjoy meeting and interacting with his fans! Even the wrinkled, middle-aged housewife types!

That's too funny Barb. My sister felt the same way when she met him. He's still looking pretty good too!

OH JESSIE!!! Girl I am cracking up!!! My best friend and I would air guitar and drum DAILY to Cheap Trick's Live at Budakan album!!! (I can't spell LOL). Man, I think we played that thing OUT! And Lynard Skynard... I am SOOO envious... you know the two Van Zants did a country album here recently??!!! I am wanting to get it and hear it!!! I love LS!!!! I have never seen them in concert but did get to see BTO back when I was 18! heehee Oh.. and where I come from...Leif Garrett and Cheap Trick and Donny Osmond WERE in the same time reference.... I was an Andy Gibb fan and a David Cassidy kinda gal. Never did like Shaun Cassidy like my friends. And I had the Donny and Marie dolls And I'd listen to Lief but he never did much for me. I wasn't much into blondes unless it was Andy Gibb... LMAO! My ALL TIME HUNK AWARD from years gone by would go to RICK SPRINGFIELD!!!!! I still love that man to THIS DAY!!! I've seen him in concert a few years ago.. still looks d**n good in my book! A.

LMAO A.!! I couldn't think of David Cassidy's name when I posted - all I could think of was Partridge, Partridge, and couldn't get his real name out. Actually, Cheap Trick maybe even was before some of those guys - Budakon came out in '77. How dated do you feel NOW?!!! ha ha
I wasn't sure how many "rockers" were on here, so it was more of an alternative musical reference point rather than a time frame. Hmmm, did I wiggle my way out of that one?
LS was soooo great. I was very impressed. Yes, I've heard the Van Zant brother's new song and it's pretty good.
I wish there was still good ol' rock-n-roll around! OMG - how ancient do I feel saying something like that that my parents would have said!
I saw Rick Springfield a couple of years ago too - and yes, the man is still looking very fine. Oh I wish that I had Jessie's girl is now playing in my head!

I saw Rick a couple years back too. He still looks fine, but the night I saw him he sounded kinda old. Oh well, he was still good to look at.
Okay if we're talking Rick Springfield, we gotta talk a little Jon Bon Jovi....oooh laaa laa! I've always had a special place in my heart for Steve Perry of Journey too. I agree Jessie, they just don't make the music or musicians like they use too!
Bryan Adams and Def Lepard are touring together this summer, I'm going write myself a note to remember to call about tickets. Anyone going?

I saw Bon Jovi back when I was 19... scalpped tickets from 2 hussies who's boyfriends got arrested for scalping tickets LMAO! Great seats I must say! I love good ole Rock N Roll. My mom always listened to hip music and I had an older brother and sister... so I was around it from a very young age. Van Halen, Journey, Ted Nugent, Cheap Trick, LS, BTO, Alman Brothers, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton... just to name a few. I don't know what I'd do without them. I am a music kinda gal though.. I can do it all... except maybe Regae... I am not a big fan of it unless it's live. Since I grew up in the 70's (well, and 80's) I LOVE all the 70's music.. the rock and the hokey stuff too. Man the 70's produced some hokey songs and I just love them! Me and You and a dog named Boo..... LMAO!
I do have to admit that Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire are coming back in town again like last year. I was BEGGING my husband to see that last year and we just couldn't swing it. I need to see if I can this year. I would LOVE to dance the night away to it all!!!! I also have to admit I would give anything to see Kenny Loggins. I have a special place in my heart for him. Always have....
ROCK ON GIRLS!

Alright, I am not a rock and roller, but my husband, well...that is a different story. So after being married for almost 12 years, I've begun to tolerate his musical choices. Me, classical and light rock are more my flare.
Anyway...U2 is Gary's favorite. When I say favorite, let's just say, he worships the ground they walk on. He's peered through Bono's gates in Ireland, met Bono's friend's bro and sis, and well, no he doesn't stalk them, but it sure does sound like it.
So, Gary took me to my first U2 concert a week or so ago and I had a great time! What a fabulous concert! I actually tried to figure out a way to get tickets for their Philly show in Oct. So much for Mozart, give me Bono and The Edge!

It's funny, a couple of the best shows I have seen were by people/groups that I really didn't expect to like and was just going because I was invited or whatever. I've been to a ton of concerts over the years and a couple of notables that I would NOT have expected to like:
Harry Connick, Jr. - OMG he is AWESOME, hilarious, wonderful entertainer. I didn't even know any of his songs the first time I saw him in concert and when we left the show I told my friend that was one of the best concerts I had ever been to. I have since seen him two more times and have quite a few of his cd's.
Billy Joel - ok, I love his music and I expected to enjoy the show - but me and my cousin NEVER expected to feel . . . well attracted to him!!! That was just about a year ago (when he was touring with Elton John) and, well, he's really not looking his best right now. However, he is HOT when he is performing on stage - wow!
So, Valerie, I understand where you are coming from after seeing U2. Maybe I need to see them live because I don't really care for them . . . maybe I would have the same reaction as you!
For those Jon Bon Jovi fans, I will be seeing Bon Jovi at the end of the summer, again at the casino. So . . . if I see him getting into his limo I will jump his bo . . . I mean, I'll shake his hand for you guys! LOL

I have always liked him though and have some of his CD's... there is a xmas one with him wearing a red sweater.. if you don't have it... GET IT.. one of my all time xmas favs! I don't know if even I saw Billy Joel I would think he is hot LMAO... but to each his own! LOL He would be great to see though! I have never seen him in concert but would love to! Have fun with Jon Bon Jovi! A.

Yup, go that CD of Harry's! Love it too.
Yeah, the whole Billy Joel thing is very bizarre. I look at him and can't believe that I feel that differently about him - it's kind of a weird thing!
