I need some MAJOR help boys and girls!
I was out Friday evening and dh stayed home with the kids. When I returned, I found not only a stained carpet, but a very smelly one too!
Seems that Maggie's "diaper exploded", as my 10 year old says, and it went everywhere. Joy!
I have steam cleaned it several times, but it doesn't seem to be getting the smell up.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Oh Robin M.. don't know if this will help at all but have great faith in any of the Arm & Hammer cleaning produces. They always seem to neutralize odors (they get a heavy workout at my house) I know they make something you sprinkle on the floor before you vacumm ~~I've used the one that is supposed to be a neutral scent. So Sorry!! sounds like a classic mess

Dilluted vinegar always seems to work for odors. I would mix half vinegar and half water and blot it onto the area that smells, and then use a dry cloth to try to remove any extra moisture. Hope this helps.

Ok Robin, my husband and I own a small carpet cleaning company, so this is sort of right up my alley!!
If we were neighbors, I'd run you over some super cleaning chemicals, but since we're not, I will suggest this to start.......(and we have actually used these things in the business)
Go to your local petstore and go to the section where there are cat urine/feces stain/odor removers. They're not cheap - probably 10-15 dollars for about a quart and completely saturate the areas that have the odor. You might have to do it twice - get a product that works on litter boxes, diaper pails, bathrooms, etc., not just the one for the carpet. They work by natural enzymes and they really do work. Paige, at 4 years old, still likes to, uh, 'play in it' and smear my walls and carpets.
If you have no luck, post again, and I'll in the meantime ask my hubby for some chemicals you'd be able to get at the store.

Thanks girls! I'm going to try some of that tomorrow.
I worked on it again last night with a carpet cleaner, it still stinks! So on to newer and hopefully freasher ideas!
Thanks again.
