Anyone read this by Michael Berube?? It's a real life account of having a baby with Ds and how their family went through all of the emotions, etc. Ok, I'm only on the 2nd chapter but I was already crying! Yes, I'm PMS'ing, but in the introduction and the first chapter the author discusses the history of treatment of people with Ds and it just made me cry. Which, when I'm lying on my couch in my living room it's ok . . . but when I'm on an airplane amongst complete strangers, NOT so good!! LOL
So far so good, I'll post up after I'm finished with it, but I was curious if anyone else has read it yet.

Must have been more than 6 years ago now. Got the pbk around here somewhere. Good book I think. Main thing I remember is Berube's reaction to getting the Ds dx. He was like, so what. He'd been too busy worrying about his wife and baby dying to worry too much about a little Down syndrome. -- Bob

I need to read this, too. We too were more concerned about Emily's PHYSICAL problems after her birth than the DS. Frankly I think that made it much easier for us to accept her disability. Just glad to have a living child to take home with us...Jackie
