Okay all you avid readers.... I have just finished my library book and need another good book to start.
I do not necessarily want a ds book...more along the lines of a novel. Maybe a good mystery.
Any suggestions??
Deborah ( still trying to get Secret Life of Bees at my library)

Hey Deborah, I just remembered something. I borrowed the Secret Life of Bees from a hotel. They have a lending program and will donate money to a literacy program for books checked out. If you have a country inn and suites check there for the book. (the hotels I have been too, have a book shelf in the lobby/computer area. You don't sign anything but the inside of the book before you return it. You can return it to any hotel. Pretty cool program.) Here's a link to their program. www.countryinns.com/offers/displayDetail.do?offerId=1242433I just finished "How Elizabeth Barrett Browning Saved My Life" a novel by Mameve Medwed. It was just ok. It's about how Abby takes a chamber pot to an Antiques Road Show and how it changed her life. I'm just starting "The slow moon" a novel. The cover says it waxes full with suspense, a haunting story of innonce lost, lives betrayed, and the courage required to face the truth. I'll let you know. Let us know what you find. Dawn

Hi Debborah....this is why I wish I had a DATABASE of books I've read !! I have read so many, but hard to recall them later. Easier to remember some of my favorite authors and ALL their books are good and highly recommended..... Pat Conroy.... great storyteller...LONG books....but great charactar details Catherine Ryan Hyde..... I love her books (funeral for horses, Pay it forward, Walters Purple Heart).....I could keep going on her....she is FABULOUS John Grisham..... you can never go wrong with him...easy, easy to read....who would have guessed court rooms, laws and judges would be entertaining A. Manette Ansay..... ALL of her books are GREAT !! River Angel I think was my favorite. Patricia Gaffney.... I JUST finished reading Flight lessons.....I've only read a few of her books...but enjoyed the ones I read.

Allisa, I love John Grisham! My dad is an BIG reader and buys all Grishasm's books, so I always borrow his when he is finished.
I am serioualy thinking of making the data base for my books..just need the time! Right now I will keep a list on me of the ones suggested so I will have it when I go to the library.
Dawn, I will be anxiously waiting for a revue of "The Slow Moon"

Funny Jackie, but, I found that book at the mall here. There is a small place there that has magazines, Word Finds, and a few books above. It is called Westgate News. I found that book you are reading. I didn't have the money to buy it but it looked promising. I will tuck this book away in my mind for next time. You recommend good books to read! ;D

Just finished reading Moloka'a by Alan Brennert. It's really good- bit of a tear jerker but it's about the island of Moloka'i in Hawaii that was used as a leper island in the late 1800's. "A dazzling historical novel"
Am now reading No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Andrew McCall Smith and it is extremely entertaining and an easy read. I think you would really enjoy it if you haven't read it! cindy
