Toying around with the idea of going to Disney World in Florida either in Dec, Jan or Feb. We have NEVER been before and I have literally spent hours on their website...which can be overwhelming to say the least. Thought I would ask my favorite experts in the world...those who reside at unomas. Found this great site: www.mousesavers.com/So....what have you all experienced...good and bad. Any suggestions for the least expensive hotel......I looked at the value priced ones. Also, how many days did you spend in which resort? What did your kids love or not. Has anyone been to that VisonQuest thing in Disney Downtown? I would like to see Circue de sole. Any suggestions on keeping the price of food/drinks down if you stay off the Disney property? Anyone use any of the babysitting/kids clubs. I bet they don't allow 4 years olds that arn't potty trained. I would be taking a four year old thats scared of rides, a 10 year old that will ride anything with me and a DH who can't spin around without getting sick. How hard is it to actually get around between the parks and between the resorts and parks? Its all very well to say you have a pass to everything...but if a park closes at 6pm and you try to return to your room and eat...seems you would waste too much time. Maybe this will be the year! Thanks guys.

TRICIA We have been to Disney World twice now and are going back a few days after Christmas thru New Years and then some this year ;D We stayed at the BoardWalk the first year, very expensive, second time we stayed at the Carribean (sp?) not as expensive more of a middle price. This year we are staying at the Comptemporay (sp) again expensive. I always found it very easy to get to the parks. All the hotels have busses that will take you right to the parks. Not sure if I read your post wrong BUT none of the parks close at 6 least none that we went to. They are ALL open into the night. One thing is if you stay at a Disney Resort you can get in the park early before the general public and it lots less crowded ;D Three of the hotels have the Monorail running right thru the hotels, which will take you right to the Magic Kingdom, Comtemporay is one of them ;D All the other hotels well most have busses running every 15 min or so to which ever park you may want to go to. First year we went, I think Chris was 3 or 4, i forget and actually I have to say for him it was not that great then, he spent most the time in the stroller and wasn't into all the loud noises, shows and rides. BUT the 2nd time when he was older OMG he loved it and is already packed for this trip, he is soooo excited ;D As for the Circue de sole we went here in our area and just telling you my experince Chris was not into it like he is a real Circus. Kodi OMG she loved it but not that great for Chris. Not to say Patrick won't take to it, just sharing our experience. The bad experinece for us was the frist time we went we tired to fit it all in to short of time Did not make for a Happy Chris Second time we learned better and knew to take breaks at the hotel pool ;D Personally and its just my thought at least 7 days min. worked the best for us. AND yes many of the babysitting will take a 4 year old not potty trained,we didn'[t use it cause Disney is such a family event BUT I did look into it some and they were cool with it The Character breakfast and dinners OMG he loved them and you know what soooo did we all If you do go, PLEASE try and make the Epcot Firework show OMG it way way cool, the BEST I have ever seen ;D This subject OMG I could go on and on but I will leave you with... No matter what you do have a BLAST, we love it there ;D

My wife, Lynn, suffers from some sort of WDW mania. I maintain I hate the place, it's a rip-off, and it makes me sick. I can't tell if she's just dying to go again or just living for the next trip. I think I'll succeed in stalling until just before Robert turns 3. Here's a long post of mine to Down-syn from June 2002, just after our last WDW ordeal: <<Well, we have returned to sunny New Jersey after visiting a wet rat during the monsoon season in Florida. And I survived the trip, including riding Tower of Terror and Rockin' Roller coaster with my soon-to-be-15-yr.-old stepdaughter. Charlie, I'm sorry to say, actually seemed to enjoy large parts of this unfortunate experience. He liked the few parades that didn't get rained out and some of the shows, especially Food Rocks and Festival of the Lion King. We took him on some of the more sedate rides, Small World, Peter Pan; he liked the ones with lights and music. Charlie has several Bear in the Big Blue House toys but doesn't get to see the television show regularly because we don't take the Disney channel. But he got to see Bear live and in person (or in bear or in costume, whatever). He liked that show a lot and found a new girlfriend, Maggie from Indiana. We spotted a little girl in the crowd waiting to go in who appeared to have a similar chromosomal makeup to Charlie's (they all look alike, you know). She was really cute, had curly blonde hair, a mouthful of white teeth, and was walking and talking very well for a 3 yr. old. So, outside after the show, a**hole that I am, I went up to her dad and asked if his kid could give my kid ambulation lessons. Momentarily he looked surprised and not too happy, but then he must have noticed I was wearing a Buddy Walk tee shirt and said, oh, hi, with a warm smile. Good thing for me, because he was a pretty big guy. So, Lynn and I had a very pleasant chat with Maggie's mom and dad and we took Charlie and Maggie's photo together. Charlie should probably be jealous of Maggie, but petty vices do not appear to be part of his genetic makeup. Maybe the event Charlie enjoyed most was the character breakfast at Chef Mickey's. He started waving his napkin without prompting and well before anybody else was waving any napkins. He also soaked a couple of napkins in syrup; but that was due to parental neglect, or at least inattention. With my mom and my sister and her family, there were twelve of us at two tables. Hmm, actually the breakfast buffet was quite good and I did a fairly thorough job of overeating. Anyway, after lots of music and yelling and character greetings and stuffing ourselves, our waiter came over to Lynn and asked who Charlie's favorite character was. Lynn told him that Charlie appears to have a weakness for Minnie Mouse. So then, even though Mickey and Minnie had already been by our table, d**ned if Minnie didn't come back in just a few minutes and let Charlie lick and chew on her nose (hope he doesn't make a habit of that). And then the waiter returned and gave Charlie a little Minnie figure (he also likes little figures of people and characters). I didn't see any of the other kids getting little figures; certainly Charlie was the only one in our group who did. I sure hope my Mom gave that waiter a good tip. I've been toying with the modified Orwellian concept that all kids are special but some are more special than others. Visiting Disney World makes me think maybe all kids are special but a whole bunch of them are spoiled, nasty little brats. Maybe our waiter has a better grasp of the concept than I and a better eye for spotting the more special kids than most. And by the way, stopping by Guest Relations for the few minutes it took to get a pass to treat Charlie's stroller as a wheelchair was I think a very good idea. Saved us a lot of trouble and back pain. Should have done it the first day we were there instead of waiting until the second. Cheers -- Bob Black daddy to Charlie Black (delivered by emergency C-section July 24, 1999, 10 weeks premature, Down syndrome, bilateral congenital cataracts) >>
Post might be hard to find searching the archives of Down-syn. I gave it the subject line "Wet Rat."

I haven't been to Disney World yet, but you shouldn't have to worry much about any wet rats... It doesn't really that rain much in the winter here. I am looking forward to going, but I don't want to spend all that money until Jenna is old enough to care. My dh says he never wants to go, but I bet he will when Jenna can really enjoy the place.
