Happy 4th of July, everyone!! ;D ;D
So what's everyone's plans for celebrating? We'll be having a BBQ at my mom's with all my family, then we'll go uptown for fireworks. We live in a SMALL town. Everyone goes up early, gabs for a while, they sell homemade ice cream, pie, lemonade, etc... then the show at dark!
Last year, the thrill of SEEING the fireworks overrode Nicholas' fear of HEARING the loud ones, so it went ok. Hope he enjoys it this year! ;D

Well, I got nervous about my work getting behind while I'm gone to Louisville, since I'll be off Thurs and Friday, so I got up early this morning and went in to work at 6am.....just got home and we are headed for the community pool for the rest of the day. We're doing a BBQ tonight and then off to a park for the yearly festivities. The one we love is hosted by a HUGE church. They give away lots of food and drinks, and the fireworks are set to Christian music. Emily hates the noise, and only agrees to go at all because of the food! She was at camp last year and was thrilled to miss it all! She is already telling me she thinks she'll just stay at home alone. NOT!

I use to go every year as the 4th of July is my Sister's B-Day but since she passed on 7 years ago and even thou 7 years has gone by, its just not the same for me So they decided for fun to take the train there and back, which Chris is very excited about

Valerie~ Your post made me smile. You didn't have to write you are from a small town, when you said you went uptown....you gave it away....wink, wink.
I grew up in the suburbs of two large towns. It wasn't until we moved into the "country" close to a small town that we learned that you go uptown to get your gas.
We spent the weekend and the fourth up at our family cottage in Northern WI. We boated and fished the whole time, and of course we went to town to see the parade.

We spent the 4th on the road to Tn. We then went to Oak Ridge, listened to their local symphony and watched their fireworks. We were all a bit tired as we had left 4am with Gary and I getting very little sleep, but what is the 4th without fireworks?
CC, the Jersey shore on the 4th. That was where Gary and I had our first date. OC fireworks! I remember it like yesterday! Hope you enjoyed it. Sorry about the loss of your sister even if it's been 7 years, it's still tough, I'm sure.

We just got back from camping at Mackinaw since last Thursday. The fireworks up there are great. From our campground we got a view of the bridge and also fireworks from three areas all at once, Mackinaw City, Mackinaw Island and St. Ignace (Mackinaw City and St. Ignace are the cities on each end of the Mackinaw Bridge for those of you not familiar with Michigan). Plus, the bridge looks beautiful at night anyway all lit up. Another bonus is that although we can see everything very well, the fireworks are far enough away that the noise doesn't bother Jason at all. We are exhausted and now I have a bunch of laundry to do and get packed to leave for Chicago tomorrow - the NDSS conference is this weekend! Sounds like everyone had a good ol' American kind of day! Jessie P.S. Chester - I will never forget the way that someone looked at me when I was younger when I used the term "uptown" in reference to where we lived. They were from a bigger city and thought it was hilarious that I used that term for our town. ;D

My boy-friend, Steve came over and my dad cooked hamburgers on the new cooker. It was a nice day that day. I don't care much for the fireworks I mean, I don't operate them myself. I do like seeing them up in the sky and their changing colors. We have a better fireworks show in September. It last much longer. We have classical and patriotic music along with it. Yes, I do go to that one!
