This is not a "fun" topic, but we compared gasoline prices on this site about a year ago and I thought it would be interesting to know what everyone is paying for gas now. In light of everything that has happened in Louisiana and Mississippi, I'm thrilled that we can get gas and I'm not really complaining about the price we are paying for gas.....not really.........but was curious about the differences in prices in other areas.
Last Monday night, I heard the prices were going to shoot up at midnight so I filled up our van at $2.49/gal. By morning, the same station had raised their price to $2.99/gal. Most places here are now $3.09 for regular unleaded.

It was kind of interesting here yesterday. Yesterday morning, Brian paid $3.39/gal, however, last night it was down to $2.99/gal. Odd, especially being the Friday of Labor Day weekend, we would have thought they would have went even higher.
Not sure what we are at today . . .

One can only hope that the letters and calls we have been making to Attorney General Mike Cox (MI) may be working. We were up to 3.31 a gal for the cheap stuff. Haven't been in town to see where it is today.
Guess we can keep our fingers crossed its almost time to fill the oil tanks for winter heating and I am wondering if I need to take a mortgage out to be able to afford it this year.

Here in Southern NJ (9/3/05) prices for regular are $3.35. Each morning and each night they have this tendancy to change. Last night it was $3.19. Yesterday the prices went up and down from $3.19-$3.35 four times!

Sit down before I tell you how much WE are paying over here...
We buy our fuel by the litre, and currently pay $1.33/litre... There is 3.7853 litres in 1US Gallon, so that is $5.03(AU) a Gallon... Todays exchange rate puts that at $3.81(US)/Gallon...
And we are constantly being told that the price of fuel WILL go up as a result of Katrina...
And to think I failed High school Maths!!

EEEEK Stella!! You win!
Just out of curiosity, can anyone tell me what if any, are your prices for different fuels ie; Unleaded, Premium Unleaded, and Deisel... Currently here, Premium and Deisel are around 5c/litre more than Std Unleaded...Deisel used to always be cheaper than other fuels... would be interested to know if it is the same everywhere or if we are just being ripped off over here.

Southern NJ - Diesel around $2.99 gal, Reg. around $3.30 gal, Plus around $3.45 gal, Premium around $3.55 gal.
For some reason one station will be $3.19 gal (Reg) and down the street a different station is $3.35 gal (Reg) and then further down it's $3.25 gal. So difficult to figure out these days. It's usually within a couple of cents with each station, but never close to .20 cent differences. Go figure!
Oh Stella, $6.01! Do you drive or depent on the DART?

I'm buying a Hybrid......next time around I swear !! Prices here (massachusetts) are about $3.35 for the cheap stuff.....it does vary .....I've seen it as low as $3.19....but avg. seem $ 3.35 Different stations charge different prices like any other store..... based on their overhead....one may have a lower rent and can bring their prices down more..... It's so funny that you posted this, Susan....I was just thinking about the thread dedicated to this last year & was going to bump it back up to the top....to see what we thought was high "back then"

Well, seems our governor has put a cap on gas prices, so we have been at $2.99/gal for unleaded all weekend. It's so strange that no matter where you go, every single gas station has the price at $2.99. I don't know how long it will stay that way, but that's where we are at now (in Michigan). Last week when it was at the all-time high of $3.39/gal, Brian had to fill up his truck and his welding machine that day and it cost him $85!!! He about had a stroke. We were saying yesterday how lucky we are that we both work from home now and don't have to drive into work everyday. His gas consumption can be passed onto jobs that he works on . . . unfortunately for his customers! But, everyone pays in the end, every single thing we purchase is dependent on transportation and therefore gas prices, so no one goes without feeling the pain somehow! Jessie

For the most part here in Southeast Michigan it's 2.99 but there are a few that have it at 2.85. There was some talk that the Govenor was going to lift the state tax on gasoline.

For you Michigan people- We drove up to Atlanta this weekend to ride motorcycles on our property. We paid $3.19 in Rose City and that was the price everywhere around there. On the way home we didn't have to stop until Saginaw where we got it for $2.89. I refuse to act like 2.89 is any kind of bargin- Lord help me I never ever thought I would consider $2.89 cheap gas.
Had a great weekend though- the weather was so great!!!!

It is $2.99 in Columbus Ohio. Did you compare how everything start to be expensive since Gas' price went up? It sounds there is a monopoly on gas prices if it goes that high. What our government is making for that? Sorry - I am angry.

We're paying $3.19.9 for regular unleaded today in Pittsburgh, however I have seen it here for $3.39. I'm on my way to the bank to mortgage the house so I can fill up both cars.
