I don't know if you all read any historical fiction but I love to read them, if they are interesting and most of the time they are. I am now in the middle of a John Jakes book, titled, HOMELAND. It is about an immigrant boy from Germany who crossed over the ocean and into Amercia. He is almost an adult now and learning how to be a photographer. His story is a sad one but good. The book is not just about him it is also about those he knows and has met. I think the book is set back in the 1890's. It has some violence, the story or stories involve workingmen fighting for fair wages for the work they do verses the wealthy bosses they work for. And there is a love story. The boy, Paul, is in love with a beautiful wealthy girl. The only problem is that she comes a wealthy family. It is the times they live in and how they struggle to find their own way. I love it so far.
Do any of you read histroical literature and if you do, who are they? I'd like to know. I wouldn't mind trying to read a different writer writing in a different time frame.

Debbie, my Grandmother reads historical fiction, I'll ask her for some titles. Also my daughters love the American Girl books which all have historical settings, and situations. Have you read any of them? My oldest daughter's favorites are the Josefina books about a Mexican girl who has a little goat, and several sisters (Mary also has goats and sisters).
If you haven't tried any of the American Girl books, give them a try. Chris
