I hope this is going to work...
I posted this on another forum I visit regularly, an Aussie site, so they all know where I live and a little about our geography.
I will say now that our river, is actually a "dry" river... that actually flows underground.
It is one of the biggest waterways in Australia, but for the most part is looks like sand.
It only "flows" a few times a year...
That said....
Here is what I posted...(I hope the pics work too...)
Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE where I live?...
I am sure I have...
But the last few weeks have been just fantastic. The Gascoyne has given us its best, and having the river in my backyard...I am loving it even more.
The river is in full flow, and has been since mid Jan, but after Emma last week, we have had higher peaks than I have seen in the 4 yrs I have been here.
It is currently at almost 5m under the bridge, and still rising expected to peak at around 5.8 during the night tonight.
Here... (I hope) are a few pics taken over the last few days.
Taken Saturday 04/03,
Sunday 05/06
Today 4pm..
these 3 images are taken of the same pathway, first one is just a little further down in the riverbed... but note the little bloke watching the water moving and drowning the ants...
This one taken at sunset today, from the levey bank directly behind our house...
to give some perspective, here is a shot from the back verandah where you can see the Levy in relation to the house...ie... only 10-15 mtrs to the Levy.
The water is currently about 20 mtrs from the levy, but only expected to rise another metre... might come up to the pathway...
Just thought I would share this, as I just LOVE it...
Life just could not get much better for us here.
I also hear that the Mighty Murchison is in full flood for the first time in many years...
