Are there any American Idol addicts out there?? I admit to being one!!
Right now, my favorites are Jordin and Melinda.

We watch the auditions, and then start watching again when there are about 8 or so left. My mom watches every episode, and then votes.
I thought Jordin's performance was the best tonight. Melinda's was good, and so was LaKisha's. Unfortunately, the guys just aren't as impressive this time.

I agree.....the guys are too soft this year......Melinda has been my favorite from the beginning.....and yes......Simon got it CORRCT when he kept telling her to stop looking so surprised......it got on my nerves, too......she is GREAT, she should be able to take the compliment wholehartedly and graciously.....not with those surpreised eyes......it took away from her performance....... BTW.....I HATE HATE HATE the audition portion of it.....I wish they would get rid of it altogether......it is there for the sole reason of laughing and ridiculing people and I think it is horribel mean spirited. And demeans the real part of the show where it shows what hard work can accomplish.

Could not agree more about the audition phase. We stopped watching them this year.....we all agreed, just too mean.

I think Melinda definitely has the best voice, but I'm not sure she's necessarily my favorite. They all did great last night - I'm not even sure who I want to win at this point. I agree with Simon (I think he's the one that said it), that it feels like the competition has now really just begun. The whole Sanjaya thing was a distraction for too long!

At this point in the competition each year, I'm always attached to every single one of them!! I hate to see ANY of them go at this point. If I had to choose, I'd say I'd like for it to get down to Jordin and Melinda with Jordin winning it all.
I know this is odd, but I felt so sorry for Sanjaya that I was in tears when he got booted. I never wanted him to win, but didn't want him to be criticized either! Go figure! Now you have to admit................when he sang the song in Spanish, he was GOOD, right???

Yes, the song he did in Spanish was his best effort, in my opinion. I also like Melinda a lot, but do you think Jordin has a little more sparkle? I missed it tonight, have no idea what happened. Sharon

I do love American Idol....and I agree, the auditions are too mean. I don't watch them at all.
I had soft spot in my heart for Sanjaya from the beginning. When he and his sister auditioned, they told him he was the better one.....but when asked in front of his sister..he wouldn't say that. He was very humble and didn't want to hurt his sisters feelings. I was rooting for him from then on. His performances were not good....but that spanish song was AWESOME. My father sung that song to me when I was young (although I assume since we are Italian, he sung to me in Italian)....but either way, it brought back a nice memory for me and I thought he did a great job!!
I think LaKisha should win. She is fantastic....and she has a little girl to support. Just knowing that, gets her my vote!!

I am not good with criticism myself so...watching American Idol makes me squirm...even though the talent is fun...by nature I am not a competitor so hate the shows where they announce who leaves...but understand that its fun to watch for lots of you.
I am a Clay Aiken fan...all the way...I think he would make a great talk show host too.

I usually don't watch it but Regan is enjoying it more and more so sometimes we watch it with her. I think the girls have GREAT voices but over all package (i.e. stage presence, smile, ect) I like Jordin. One if the other gals, I can't remember which one, has an AWESOME voice but I rarely see her smile or "connect" with the audience that much. I think Jordin has ALL that.

Sharon - they didn't eliminate anyone last night because it was their big charity fundraising evening. They will eliminate two people next week.
I think Sanjaya was a sweet person too, just not a great singer. He was on the Today show yesterday morning and was super gracious towards Simon - I think Meredith and Matt were very impressed with what he chose to say about Simon when given the opportunity.
Think I need to go back to work and quit watching so much TV . . .

Jessie
What a great spin on things, no elimination on charity evening. But 2 home next week, that will be hard.
Thanks for the update!

my favorites from the beginning have been Jorydan and Blake.... I was very impressed with how Sanjaya handled all the hoopla..and the critisism. He is very mature for his age...I'm sure we will be seeing him again.

I'm not a big fan of this show however I have watched it a few times. I watched it when Barry Manilow on. Yes, I am a big Barry Manilow fan! I love his songs. The men on that show sang good. Did you hear about Jessica Sierra? I think that is her name. I don't know if she is on now I don't remember seeing on the last time I watched. She was arrested for bodily assault and a cocaine charge. She was one of the ten finalists. Does anyone remember her? She has long blonde hair. I think Simon is cute. Sometimes his tongue is sarcastic but, there were times when he really hit the mark on some of the singers. Yes he is mean spirited, but, really, isn't he paid to be like that?

Debbie, I remember Jessica Sierra. She was on American Idol last year or the year before, I think. I wasn't fond of her at all.
I know Simon is paid to critique each singer, but surely he could do it without so much sarcasm. He does seem to have an ear for which ones are likely to go far though.......last year he said Carried Underwood would win, and that she'd sell more records than any other winner and I think that has been true so far. I get so tired of hearing him tell contestants that their performance was "cabaret" or "karaoke" or "hideous". He does have a gentler side though; as we saw last week when he went to Africa.
