My son Jonathan (25 with DS) and I possibly might move to Texas where my sister and her family are relocating due to a job. Since I really don't have much in family she is encouraging us to relocate as well. But before I can commit am looking what, who to contact to find what programs and assistance are available for him. Here in So. Cal. we have Regional Centers that can help provide a list, is there any such organization in Texas? Anyone's insight and help would be great. Thank you.

What part of Texas?? I know a mom that lives in TX.. actually I know a few moms that live in TX We have a few on this board that are from TX and I know some more on other boards! TX is a big place!! heehee I don't think they have Regional Centers like CA do but I could be wrong. I am from SO CAL ourselves and familiar with Regional Centers... I now live in MO where they have some too. good luck with your move! A.

We are in Houston. My son is only 2,so I'm not real sure about services for adults. I know there are LONG wait lists for services (med waiver type funding). I believe there are specific agencies for each area that administer the programs so you have to find out what your area is and then determine who the administrative agency would be. You might check with Texas parent to parent www.txp2p.org. I know there are other Moms on here that will know more specifics. If it's in the Houston area, I'd be glad to check around and get you some specific names to contact for questions. Hope that helps. Joy

Joy We are south of Houston..we could be very close.
There are no regional centers here. I lived in California for 6 years when we were stationed there. It is harder to get services here in Texas than it was for me in California. I am not shre about adults though.
