I had a "idea swap" kinda thing yesterday with our local DSA and our Educational Resource Team, which I am on. There were only a few parents there but it was well worth helping everyone out. I didn't get to stay long but we did have quite a few books out for parents to browse through...two caught my eye in and I wrote them down to share. Neither one of the books I have read personally but they looked like they could be of some help to some of us! The 1st one is called: Why Johnny Doesn't Behave: 20 Tips & Measurable BIP's by Barbara Bateman and Annemieke GollyThis book is about FBA's and BIP's (Functional Behavioral Analysis and Behavioral Intervention Plans) I think BIP's are also like PBI's, which is the term I learned... Positive Behavioral Intervention. It's an IEP resourse type book and can help those who have the behavioral piece in their IEP's. Seems like a good tool for parents AND educators! Here is a link to what the book looks like: www.specialneeds.com/books.asp?id=13038The 2nd book is called: Answers to Questions Teachers Ask About Sensory IntegrationWe had started our meeting by the time I found this book so I didn't get to look through it like I wanted.. this book really interested me. There seemed to be alot of helpful stuff for parents and educators and even check lists, ect... so I am going to have to look into this book further! They also listed this website on this book www.sensoryresources.com/ and the specific book looks like this www.sensoryresources.com/details.asp?pid=40A.
