well i first posted and joined uno at the time my 9 yr. old was going into 4th gr. and changing school sites. well the class i chose was bright ,full of different things to look at and do, teachers stable, desk for centers a computer ext.... after speaking with the teacher about the program i felt kyle would grow and learn here. well the iep came and aep goals were set and approved speech was shaky after hearing the first goal i was already coming back in my head with a counter but we discussed it and the second goal consisted of what i wanted or what kyle needs articulation for clearer understanding approved then the teachers gave me some feed back and the goals seemed so mundane and simple i was shocked i do not know were this came from because the class seemed like others he has been in centers, books circle with calender time at centers they work on matching name writing their is a listening center well these kids are learning kyle is happy( no offense by that) anywho i came out of that meeting feeling like i was doing kyle an injustice just with the teachers expectations sometimes i think these classrooms run the way they run and goals end up overlapping or new unwritten tasks are learned i know the purpose of the iep and see growth and matureness in kyle so there is my proof on the same note it makes me think are the elaborate iep out there being fallowed TO A T? any feedback on social classes? I AM GOING TO GO IN AND MEET AGAIN WITH THE TEACHER FOR ANOTHER MEETING TO FIND A COMMON GROUND I BELIEVE IN THE LIFESKIILS BUT HE NEEDS TO KNOW BASIC ACADEMICS FOR THE FUTURE
