Jelani's fieldtrip to Centennial Farm was yesterday and there were 5 Kindy classes who went....2 Spec ed Kindy, 2 gen ed Kindy, and a dual emmersion Kindy (weird name but basically is Kindy class taught in Spanish)...so there were tons of kiddos and I came along as one of the 5 parents to volunteer...we had fun!
The farm is is free, founded in 1989 and opens its gates 7 days a week for guided tours to the public to help educate the youth with several varieties of crops, nursery, and livestcok....we saw tons of crops and how they are grown and farm animals such as cattle, chickens, goats, pigs, sheep, turkeys and all the children got to hold little chicks...so cute! We saw milking cows and the respectable black angus kind ( I felt sad seeing them just knowing ) ...and we sat with a baby goat and its mother, although all were behind gates for our safety and the animals safety from the kids! lol
Jelani came home saying "goat" and I was so proud!!!! (I think googsmom's pic was a great help too!) Jelani wasn't scared one bit and I was suprised because the animals were kinda loud at one point! I think later on I'll take Jelani to a petting zoo myself and let him spend more time with the animals up close since yesterday's tour had us wisked away from place to place and we had to keep up or be left behind...so glad we went, I had gone to a farm in my schooldays, but then we were able to learn how to milk the cows ourselves, but yesterday they just showed us the machines that do this. All in all it was a great experience and just thought I'd share.
