I want to start a thread on books related to Ds we can purchase online or elsewhere. I have quite a few books from www.woodbine.com and then I turn around and find the same books alot cheaper. I think if we list what we have and where we purchased it it will help thrifty people like me Also I'm seeing questions about Math (Liasmom) and maybe we can share some books on this topic. I personally would like to know about any good Dvd's for teaching our kids the basics, simple and fun...and reasonably $. Here's a link to Books Ds related that are 1/3 less than what I paid! www.overstock.com/search?keywords=Down%20syndrome&taxonomy=&SearchType=HP_Header

This may not be what you're looking for, Dawn......but one thing we used with Emily and REALLY recommend is "Love and Learning". It's a really basic, but GOOD way to teach kids with Ds to read. It worked wonders for Em, and I believe it is the reason she is a good reader (and a child who ENJOYS reading) now. They have DVD's, audio cassettes, and books. I think the website is www.loveandlearning.comSusan

I have got most of my books at www.half.com They only charge $3.50 for shipping (most of the time) and they usually have quite a few to chose from depending on what your looking for and you can choose the one thats in your price range. Only sometimes do I actually find some on Ebay. I just put some ADHD books on ebay but i'm not done w/ my Ds related books yet. I'll let ya know when and if I ever get a chance to finish them. Also, on another sight I lurk on, you go there too, they have the garage sale thread there. I wonder if anyone has something you might need. I love that love and learning sight Susan. I've had it book marked for when Brookie gets bigger. Hopefully it will work as good for us as it did for you

This is a pretty cool sight. I had to go find it in my zillion bookmarked sights Not sure if maybe this will help you or anyone else but you can print out math "homework" for the kids to do. I think it has reading stuff too. I'm sure they have younger grade stuff too. I use it for Mary to keep her on her toes *********** www.edhelper.com ********* P.S. Plus it gives you the anwsers for the not so good at math people like me
